I've open carried the past two days......

Sounds more like a problem with the police than the open carry culture.

If only more police, specifically in mass., were as competent as this one.

The citizenry and the police are what make the culture the way it is.

Wouldn't that be the citizens culture and police culture then? How does that relate to the open carry culture? What I'm saying is, does the police and citizen culture define the open carry culture? Or does the open carry culture define the open carry culture? If you mean the overall culture of mass is uneducated toward their own carry laws and anti open carry, then yea I agree.

I OC all the time. In fact, I often move about with my gun in my hand, as I did this morning.

Of course, this all takes place in my own house. When I go out, I CC as Florida does not allow OC.

Why is it that a legitimate guy like this Ridley and his Org. come across like an idiot? All his points seem to be valid, he points out that the cop does the right thing and the woman who reported it is made to look the idiot, but Ridley and his faces and his voice makes him seem like a nutjob.

Why can't anybody that people might actualy listen to and halfway admire do the same thing?

Valid observation. He does give it characteristics I can only remember hearing from Reading Rainbow, and while it is not professional there, some people who represent and instruct about firearms here, have decided it's ok to be unprofessional as well, which I guess in turn makes it ok? The message though is also valid, glad you could still see it past the characterization.

I would also like to point out, relating to another thread, that a meet and greet looks a lot like 2:46-3:00 of the video, where people are dressed in their casual attire picking up trash around the neighborhood, while open carrying. What do you all feel about the presentation that that would gave the public? Not professional enough? Too much shoving the firearm in peoples faces?

Do you also carry a mini camcorder and/or an audio recording device?

Who were you addressing? I have a audio recording widget on my 3VO and a widget that locks the phone but allows it to keep recording. It's not perfect (ie: battery get's pulled, phone gets smashed during recording, the file is not saved. If the phone goes into hibernate/sleep mode to preserve the last % of battery it will save, so as long as the phone is intact while in custody, it should be ok) but it works. I have not had an LEO encounter addressing my firearm since I bought my phone, so I have never had to use it.

You must not read gun forums much.

I get your point but generally, I believe, the un- gun toting public doesn't see the idiocy that goes on here at times. Ridley is right there in the open at times.

I guess I might be surprised at who really does monitor sites like this and I really surprise myself that this place entertains me so, even though I would not be caught dead with some of the personalties that show themselves here. I am sure there are also those who don't care for my attitude either but it's mine and I take full responsibility:):)

Anyhow, good on Ridley but not sure it's good for us.

I hear by open carrying, you will be targeted first and/or have your gun taken off of you...just so you know. As far as the assXXX comment, I would have had to ask them to repeat what they said. Most of the time they will say "nothing". You want to act like a moron, i will call you on it. Other comments I would usually let slide or use it to start a conversation as I am normally a friendly guy.

Yeah, that was your first mistake

I was addressing the OP, but I appreciate your information.

I think I seen that video too. Thought it was pretty cool to see armed citizens "adopting a highway" to clean up. Not a meet & greet, or gun march shoving firearms in people's faces at all. Was a good idea showing the positive side to open carry for sure!

I agree on the Ridley guy not being good for open carry with videos like that. Just tell us what happened, and leave the drama and smartass comments out. Otherwise, yes, he quacks like a duck! Must be one.

As for this forum or any forum I've been on to be truthful....people tend to cock back the hammer on their keyboards, and fire away. This isn't something that just started today? I bet you'd be shocked at how nice everyone really is when there not shooting insults from behind the keyboard?

I don't think I would be surprised. There are locksmith forums that I spend time on and then actually see these guy on and off thru the year at different gatherings.

The one's that are generally buttholes or know it all's are generally the same in person, although I found a few exceptions.

Being a butthole and shooting your keyboard off is one thing but ideology does not change much in person. A know it all is usually the same coming or going.

The fact that the majority here seem to be very nice and decent folks keeps me here. It doesn't bother me much when folks spout off about their ideology and then listen to other folks opinions. What gets stuck in my craw is when you reply with your own opinion and they tell you your wrong.

Such small mindedness just makes me want to keep on them so they start to rant, which in turn makes me laugh and spend the rest of the day smiling just knowing they are seething.

It's one the traits I like least in myself but sometimes you just have to do the things that make you laugh :):):)

Ya'll have a great day today, and remember, some idiot is out there laughing at some of you:):):)

IOW you admit you are a troll?

I have not seen anyone theorizing that no one grabs an OC gun. I was born at night, but not last night.
Well, Navy... it was you. In another post you challenged me to find one occurance of this happening. I was surprised when you listed the article.

I seem to remember some rule about not doing it with a gun if you wouldn't do it w/ out a gun.
Do it without a gun and the drug dealers will forbid you are harmed. Bad for business.

Do it with a gun and you'll be swarmed by ghetto rats who want the gun. Bold, brazen, fearless people with no sense of right, wrong or morality that will kill you for a dime. Hardened to death or harm. Someone is shot or stabbed almost nightly. They would rather have the gun than the drug business. Unless someone has "hood" experience it's very hard to rationalize life there.

Saying the it could never happen, and asking for someone for an example of where it has actually happened are two entirely different statements.

How many times have you seen someone post something similar to, "Open carry and you will be a target" or "you will get shot first", or "you will get your gun grabbed"? Pretty definitive answers considering we can count on one hand, missing a couple of fingers, the number of times we actually have examples of this happening to Joe Ordinary Citizens who were openly carrying for self defense not related to a uniform that they were also wearing at the time.

I've never seen an open carry advocate posting the it couldn't happen, ever. Or that open carry will deter 100% of all crimes. Plenty of us have simply asked, "Show us the examples."
