Which calibers do you shoot...?!

Nice collection Fitch !!

...and I hear ya souasska ! Combloc rounds are plentiful, cheap, and have interesting platforms.

Went to a gun show to buy a AK74 in 5.45 once upon a time...went home with a Tommy Gun instead !

How do ya like the 5.45? Was thinking about my next build and the 5.45 caught my eye since ammo is plentiful and super cheap. That or 6.8mm Remington SPC or 6.5mm Grendel.

Never bought the platform...hence, never bought the round. But from what I understand, the Soviets

liked what they saw in the M16 platforms caliber of 5.56, and decided that their AK74 platforms should

also be built around an intermediate cartridge that allows a soldier to carry more ammunition for the

same weight compared to their larger and heavier predecessor cartridges and produce relatively low

bolt thrust and free recoil, favouring light weight arms design and automatic fire accuracy.

Actually my 40s kick worse than my 45s, even the compacts. The gun has a lot to do with it, but the 40 has a reputation for snappy recoil.
I agree, I think that will depend on the gun. My S&W 4006 has no more kick than one of the Colt Government Models in .45ACP. Now when I get to the range with the S&W CS40, I'll bet it kicks closer to the Sig C3 in .45ACP. The 4006 kicks far less than the C3. .40 S&W started its life as basically a +P round from day one.

I read somewhere (or saw on TV) that one of the main factors for creating the 74 and 5.45 round was due to overpenetration thus creating survivable (depending on placement of course) GSWs with the 7.62 round and they saw what the 5.56 was doing on Vietnam (that tumble effect).
