.45 acp! It has been the most popular for almost one hundred years. Why? Because it works! I know a lot of new tech has come out in that time, but one thing hasn't changed. The targets we need to defend ourselves from. Simple fact, shoot the same target with the same round, you get the same result!

I went with the 9mm because it is the most popular load and it is easy for my wife to shoot. So I'm thinking commonality of ammo between us. Also it is cheaper than 45 so I will probably shoot more. That is the theory anyway. I'm new to the world of handguns.
