What would YOU do?

If she does this again, start screaming for help, so you will have witnesses then call the police and file assault charges. You can always contact an attorney. Also it may be a good idea to keep the Bible handy, in case she is possessed. Best wishes!

Perhaps the responding officers didn't "get" that this was an escalation in a series of events.

Regardless, I like the meeting with the Chief of Police idea. I'm sure the store does not want to get involved but I think it would be good to inform the management and request IN WRITING that they save that portion of the video (hopefully it still exists) as it "might be be evidence in a legal case". That would put them on notice that an incident did in fact occur at their business and like it or not they are involved. If you had video in hand to show the chief he might be more responsive to your situation. I would not wait on the video however. The longer you wait, the less important it will appear to be. Also, if the store is not forthcoming with the video, a request from the chief of police would carry more weight, even if an official investigation has not yet been opened.

Take a friend with you when you speak to the store manager. His job is to witness the delivery of the letter. Have your friend read the letter and watch you seal the envelope. That way he can testify to what was actually in the letter. Somewhere in the letter should be a line advising the store that they will receive a copy by registered mail. If this friend can attend your meeting with the COP also, so much the better. Keep it friendly. Your friend is there to help you with your chair (wink, wink). As Chiefs are partly political animals, he won't miss the political implications of a witness in your corner were you to invoke the media.

As for pepper spray, you should be carrying it anyway. I recommend the gel for general purpose.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

Here's a problem I bet you've never considered. Here it is. I am confined to a wheelchair due to a spinal cord injury 35 yrs. ago. I use a manual sport chair...(very expensive and paid for it myself) There is a woman Quadriplegic(govt.paid everything) that has taken a disliking to me for some reason? I really don't know why. Anyway this past Sat. she tried to run me down with her power wheelchair outside the grocery store in my neighborhood, fortunately I was able to quickly turn myself sideways so as Not to take a direct hit in the side, she then proceeded to run at me again at top speed with her chair...I was again able(this time) to out run her. I called the police to make a report and as you can imagine it turned out to be a joke to the cops, and nothing was done except taking a report (that I don't think was taken seriously) There IS surveillance camera's at the store, the police didn't bother to check out, that would have shown her trying to run me down and they did not charge her with anything...just talked to her. I'm betting this ain't over. I'm NOT going to pull my gun on her, but I am open to suggestions as to what I can do. I know If it happens again that I will have PC to file a protective order, but I think she thinks she can get away with sort of crap because she's the poor crippled person everyone will feel sorry for......

First and foremost, try to get that camera footage. You'll never know if you will need it someday. Also, carry on you less than lethal forms of defense (pepper spray, taser, stun gun, etc.) She tries to run you over again, nail her with one of those and then call the police and explain why you did it and that there is a history of her doing this (refer to the last police report).

Good luck to you and keep us posted.

Well, I ended up using parts of all the good advice garnered here, and called the Chief of police and went down town to meet up with him today he took my info. and checked out a video from my friends cell)he sent me to the courthouse for a PO...which was granted. Thankfully he didn't dismiss it like the original Cop did. But now I had to call the COPS again this afternoon(still hadn't been served the PO). Damned if the COP today didn't do the same thing(dismiss it)...really.(like I'm the big bad bully picking on a girl) I was under the impression that a PO would as I was told by the Chief today keep this person away from me...the COP today after I handed him my copy of the PO asked me Who's this PO against?(didn't read the name on the order) and then said is this against a person in a wheelchair...I said yes....they talk to her and come back and tell me I can't have her trespassed because she's only a visitor here? I'm calling the Chief again tomorrow for clarification....as the Chief advised me to do just that.(note to self...get a cell with video, carry pepper spray, pack gun)
