For a change this thread produced a lot of interesting and varied opinions with a high degree of civility. I may not agree with everyone and obviously the repliers have the same problem, but it certainly cleared the air on this particular incident and the opinions of many.
I live in SC Mr. Canuck and if there is one occasion that I would want to CC at night it is when I am out in a restaurant, which usually serves alcohol. If there is one time during my times being CC that is most important to me it is this occasion. I am usually a glass of water person or maybe a beer so the alcohol does not mean anything to me, but the going and coming from that restaurant to and from my parked car that is on a darkened street or parking garage at say 10PM gets my situational awareness very very active, particularly since I cannot be CC because the restaurant (and this is most restaurants) serves alcohol. I am not a 24/7 CCer and, for all intents and purposes, my CCWP does me very little good (IMO) when its primary purpose is not allowed. The idea that being CC in a "bar", which, in this discussion is really moot--it is a restaurant that serves alcohol---always seems to end up with the anti CC crowd somehow making this out as the next "shootout at the OK corral", which is a ridiculous assumption but plays well with the anti CC crowd and particularly the press, where "bleeds it leads" and anything to hype a story is the bottom line.
