I'm doing some contracting work on the side in that area. I'm down there probably once a week. I'll check it out. I have a WF account and I'll make a deposit next time I'm down there. Like I said, I've been into a lot of branches down here over the years (both WF and BoA) and have never seen a guard. And trust me....a lot of times I'm carrying large amounts of cash...I'm very aware of who's around in those circumstances. If it's a particulary large amount, we'll send 2 employees to the bank, both CCing.

Come on down. You will find the HPD police car parked in diagonal parking space next to the bank under the walkway most days. The Off duty officer will be inside the WF or near the car. Another bank that has a guard is the TIB at the corner of Krome and 8th street. Yes, a guard and not a teller.

I can say for myself that I have a deep seated respect for innocent life. If I find myself in a situation where I can help someone else I feel that I may need to do so. But I have to temper that response with what the results may be. If the thief is calm and it looks like he may just leave with the 30$ that keeps being mentioned then yes my response will probable be limited to getting ready but never showing my gun. But if the situation is more serious I will have to make a serious decision at that time.

Precisely what I've been saying all along: Stay cool unless the perp escalates things beyond demanding money. I see by all the "likes" on your post that ultimately a lot of others have come around to my way of thinking. I knew they were smarter than what they were coming accross as! :biggrin:

All along I felt in this particular case the perp was not calm and a serious decision was made that I happen to think was possibly the right one under those circumstances. I certainly agree that someone who is calmly in there robbing the place, I will probably not act at all if I feel the risk is not worth it. Case by case basis with multiple variables. This is how I could agree with what warbirds was saying. This case had escalated beyond the point of being comfortable with just a robbery taking place.

The only time I've actually heard that kind of lingo/accent was in the WV mountains. Kinda cool to listen to them though. Some say I have an accent, and that's fine with me. Anything is better than MA.

Well those would be the first guards I've seen in close 1000 trips into a bank lobby over the last 15 years (more if you count the nearly 15 yrs of banking I did in NJ). Still doesn't change my assertation that bank guards are rare very rare on the whole. As a matter of fact it only supports it.....that and the FBI stats that say that guards were present in only 220 of the 5600 bank robberies in 2010. In any case, I'll stop by that WF branch sometime soon just to make sure it's not just an empty car parked there for effect. Google Earth's "street view" is a wonderful thing.
