This is why people hate the police

No emotion. Just facts from my training in regards to active shooters. You can look any of the history on these shootings and why LE has adapted the way they have. You seem to have lost your lucidity in this post and a couple others today by throwing out some names as if I'm supposed to care. Badge fluffer? I don't recall defending anyone with a badge...you're such a meany. Why is it when you get butthurt you go on the offensive? Is your internet status worth defending? Damn...I suddenly feel bad for you, son.

I just threw some facts out there for you. You can claim to be whatever you want, training don't make the man. What's your internet status? Troll? You're only here to help your poo, remember? Police departments are nothing more than a poorly trained extension of the current liberal government who protect their own and can't even match up to two men with guns when they outnumber them 10 to 1. No reason for you to feel bad for me, everything is copasetic here. I'm not the one listening to all the pro-cop propoganda and living in a fantasy world...

Your facts aren't substantiated. Hence you sounding like you haven't got a single clue.

Generalities. I haven't lied about anything. You just seem to hate that I'm smarter than you. And I'm not sure why you're referencing other threads when I've only responded to this particular one with facts and historical data that a monkey could look up. Not sure what you're trying to grasp at.

In days of ole when nights were bold, OK back in the late 60's early 70's when they were called pigs. The saying goes if ya get in trouble and need help..................call a hippie. Yea, like that really worked.
I don't understand this hatred some have on this site for LEO's. Troublesome......IMHO

I don't see any facts posted by you...just opinion. Cite your sources please.

I already cited historical incidents that changed the face of LE active shooter response...simply because LE couldn't or didn't respond appropriately due to outdated training. The militarizing of civilian LE isn't some conspiracy. Many on here think otherwise and they (and you) will continue to do so for a long time. While we continue to have domestic terrorism and mass shootings, our LE are going to come out with heavy handed badassery. Now aside from that, the circumstances rolled out in the OP on this thread looks pretty hinky and appears to not bode well with the involved officers. But it has nothing to do with whatever government conspiracy you want to cook up. TCD, nothing here is of any opinion of mine, it is what it is with how the U.S has progressed over the last couple decades and not everyone embraces the 2A like you or I which means the sheeple need to be protected from themselves. Just because you hate the government and the police, there is a constant continuation of of public sector employees working for the common good and for civility that you fail to see or recognize. You should get out and understand public safety and/or LE dynamics and actually educate yourself before blabbing some misinformed opinion on what you THINK is going on out there. If you don't want to take that advice, then pass the popcorn and tinfoil. For me it's like a bad car accident, just can't help but to look...and see the $hit show unfold into sheer ignorance and misinformation. 0 credibility.

My dog is right at one year old. We don't have a fenced backyard, so I have to walk him out there on a leash a few times a day so he can do his business. Our house is one of two in a cul-de-sac, so when we walk on either side of the house, the rest of the street is visible to us, and we are visible to it. At night I use a flashlight instead of the bright security lighting. I like the dark, and it's easier to avoid the landmines my dog, Blue, has previously dropped with it anyway, so about 1:00 this morning, I leashed Blue and headed out for our last business-run with flashlight in hand.

As soon as I walked out on the back deck, I noticed bright lights were illuminating part of my back yard coming from the front of the house and shining down the side. I also noticed that blue lights were flashing. The lights were bright enough that I knew I wouldn't be able to see anything looking directly into them, so I took Blue to the opposite side of the house first to try to see what was going on up the street. When I got there, I could see an ambulance and two cop cars with all their lights on facing my house, parked two doors up the street. I could also see two cops standing in that driveway talking to John, my neighbor. Not wanting to be overly-nosy, or attract any unwanted attention from the cops, I took Blue out to the far corner of my approximately one-acre yard where he normally does his "big" business and gave him all 26' of the retractable leash to cruise around looking for that perfect spot to unburden himself. We were the farthest away from the part of my property that faces John's house, but still visible if someone was looking out there, which, apparently, at least one of the cops was.

All of a sudden I hear an authoritarian-sounding voice say loudly, "What are you doing out here?!?!" At the same time the cop shone his flashlight in my face as I was turning towards the sound of his voice. He was standing about 15' feet from me in my own backyard. I said, "Lower the light dude! This is my backyard and I'm walkin' my f!$&ing dog! The question is, what are you doing out here!?!?" He says, "Walking your dog at 1:00 in the morning?" "Yeah man, it's the last thing I do before going to bed every single night for the last year! You can probably go back where you came from and ask John. I'm sure he sees me out here all the time." Then he asks me for ID! I told him to get lost, I'm going to bed, and started walking back towards the house. He says, "How do I know you even live here?" I advised him to radio his partner, whom I could still see was talking to John in his driveway, and ask him to identify me, which unbelievably, he actually did. John told his partner that he knew I was his neighbor because he'd seen me when Blue and I first came around my house. The cop says, "Well, OK then, but I don't know why you got such an attitude. We're just out here trying to look after your property." I'm thinkin' to myself, "Yeah, right. You get in my face, shine a flashlight in my eyes, start questioning me for no reason whatsoever, trespass while you're doing it, and you're looking after my best interests???" I just said, "Yeah, whatever, you can get off my property now."

I just got back from talking to John. He's probably 70 or older. Turns out his wife has developed dementia and has gotten increasingly violent over the last several months. He feels scared to put his hands on her to try to control her when she goes off because she doesn't even remember what happened once the cops get there after she calls them. If she has bruises on her arms, or gets scratched or something while John's trying to calm her down, that's all the "evidence of abuse" the cops would need to arrest him, so instead of doing all that, he changed the locks on the front and back doors to keyed locks both inside and out, and locks her inside while he goes outside to call 911. Apparently the cops have been out here four times in the last couple or three months, but it was either while I was at work, or asleep or whatever, and didn't know about it until this morning.

Anyway, I don't hate cops, but I sure as Hell don't like 'em demanding ID and an accounting of my sleep schedule while they're trespassing on my property. If I didn't know for a fact what a completely frustrating waste of time it would be, I would go to the cop-shop and file a complaint. The CoP doesn't care though. While this is the first time cops have ever even been on my property since I've owned it (12 years), it isn't the first I've heard of their rude and demanding style of "policing" that their Chief approves of and encourages. Conspiracy or otherwise, the attitude by cops that they can break the law with impunity is as pervasive as it has ever been across this country, and it's only getting worse.

The saying, "Don't piss down my collar and tell me it's raining" comes to mind. Cops are, by and large, abusive thugs.

Some are cool, but many these days, are indignant thugs when you rightfully question their authority.

I'm guessing you don't have much experience in the public sector? And a shotgun in LE is only useful for shooting locks off doors to gain entry. Otherwise it has absolutely no use for an active shooter response especially when countering another high powered rifle. And cops don't shoot at engine blocks. A complete inefficient and ineffective way to use ammo when they are in a firefight. The LA shooting should be analyzed like this: The cops were waaaaay under armed against automatic rifles with A LOT of ammo and training for these high speed ops was delegated to SWAT only and not beat cops. Now beat cops have at least limited SWAT-type training and many carry ARs that would allow better ammo and range for active shootings. Which have markedly escalated in the last 12-15 years. I conclude that I'm not naive to think that an incident as posted in the OP demonstrates negligence in our civilian LE collectively and that it demonstrates a police state or what have you. This is a disturbing one for sure in the OP but if there was a school shooting tomorrow in my town, I want my LE entering with an AR with a butt load of 5.56 to put the suspect down just like any other mass shooting in the recent past. Not unlike why I have an AR to counter threats and to (hopefully) outgun my threat.

One cop sniper with a 30-06 or 308 and scoped could have knocked the 2 la shooters down in a few seconds. Trying to trade round for round is a ridiculous waste of ammo and manpower. The bigger issue is Leo busting down doors with 5 or 6 black ops decked out in killing gear to try and confiscate a fawn that was being cared for because it had been abandoned. That tells all you need to know. Cops are super brave when busting down doors to confiscate a baby deer but when an active shooter is around...need I mention columbine?

Columbine is old news and old school tactics were used just like the LA shooting. Columbine had direct influence on active shooter response today however and many changes have been implemented. But hey...you and so many out there always seem to have the best ideas, right? Experts without ever feeling the heat.

Ooooo i liked and then unliked it because you were right on point but then again.......you're a moron who supports taking wild animals out of their natural habitat. The WI DNR was dressed for business because PETA members were on their way to "protest" and we all know how PETA and their pals Greenpeace protest...by attacking officers and using dirty homemade bombs to spread pollution and toxic chemicals around when they blow up machinery that was in good not leaking condition. All because the DNR observed the shelters 4th amendment rights by obtaining a warrant after waiting for the shelter to produce the fawn to prove it was free of CWD for over two weeks. PETA also says that putting my dog on a leash when walking him is abuse. Letting him run free and in front of speeding 2000 pound cars is abuse...

Nevertheless, the shelter was wrong. They hid a deer and caused its death by obstructing justice and lying to investigators, staff resisted arrest when the DNR and SO executed the warrant and threatened death to regular people who were on the DNR facebook page and not talking about the damn deer in the first place...just a delicious crappie.

This is a perfect example of why people hate the police. Wasting taxpayers money and acting like they were raiding a compound searching for Osoma Bin Laden. Did the DNR actually think that the volunteers at a no-kill-shelter were going to mount an attack against them with automatic weapons and RPG's? Was the no-kill-shelter stuffing packs of cocaine inside puppies and shipping them for the drug cartel? No! All this over a baby dear that was found abandoned in Illinois, taken to the shelter to be nursed back to health and was scheduled to be released to a nature preserve the next day. It was overkill on the part of the police and the DNR which could have been better handled with a phone call or one deputy showing up and writing a ticket. A good example of every problem is a nail that needs a hammer mentality.

PETA was not on the way to stage a protest or through dirty bombs at the police. The shelter did not know anything about the raid but somehow PETA found out, notified their Greenpeace pals and organized a protest and did all of this without calling the shelter and giving them a heads up? Where do you get this stuff? The shelter did not lie to police, they confirmed that they had the animal and it was scheduled to be released the next day. Did the shelter break a state law by housing a wild animal? On that charge they appear to be guilty of which the penalty is a fine. No one was arrested and there were no charges filed. Just a perfect example of the police state gone wild. If you have an article that says otherwise I would like to read it.

Yes, because the staff were knowingly committing crimes. Like I said before, game wardens are the most underpaid and under appreciated Police officers in this country. And most of them are actually GOOD cops. You're confusing emotion with fact on the release date...the warrant was obtained legally after 2 weeks of stonewalling and lying by the shelter staff. That they planned to "release" the stupid doe the next day is irrelevant. The law was followed to the letter, no one was arrested even when they should have been for obstruction and the shelter was allowed to file a grievance. Filing complaints against LEOs in WI usually gets you arrested on trumped up charges...i don't see any of the shelter staff in jail for filing the grievance. I see them on the DNR facebook page making death threats and swearing at children who were just excited about fishing and their first hunt. No charges there either. A "police state gone wild" would have arrested the shelter staff for much lesser crimes than terroristic threats, which is a felony...

FYI, I've come across a very young fawn in the woods and had the mother run off and hide while I was close enough to snatch it. Any knowledgeable hunter knows that most deer will lie down and not move until you step on them. Claiming a doe is "abandoned" just because you don't actually see the mother is about as asinine as the peekaboo mentality of concealed carry only people. Like a two year old, you assume that just because you can't see something, it isn't there.

What do you know about heat? When's the last time you took a life? It's been 2,702 days for me. Hooah.

Okay...so obama and holder can chose which laws they will enforce but dnr enforces those law where they can dress up in barbie battle gear. HaHaHaHaHaHaHa...oops I meant lol didn't I. Oh...Oh...I know dnr is state an the 2 idiots are fed. the Bambie law is a waste of resources and should have been passed on. Now what if one of those Barney Phyfe's got a bit trigger nervous and used the bullet that Andy gave him. Let's see...how many citizens or their dogs need to be killed to make the confiscation of Bambi news worthy. That has already been answered...zero. Now how many citizens and their dogs did the black ops want to kill because they had a Bambi without permission?

"First they tased him several times on the roof ..."
Yeah, since they acquired that toy they use it every chance they get whether it's necessary or not. I don't even watch "COPS" anymore - can't stand the boot thug mentality these young cops are brainwashed to practice.

PHOENIX, AZ — A 44-year-old man climbed onto the roof of his apartment and began acting strangely. Police arrived to help him down, but instead ended up killing him.

Michael Angel Ruiz had a history of drug addiction. On July 28, for reasons unknown, he climbed onto the roof of his apartment. Witnesses called the police to protect his safety. This turned out to have been a fatal decision.

First they tased him several times on the roof. He finally complied and hopped down. Cops immediately swarmed him and put him in a choke-hold.

Witness Gary Carthen said that Ruiz was "getting choked out and tased at the same time." He remained in a choke-hold for at least three minutes.

The most disturbing moments were to come. Michael Ruiz, now fully restrained, was dragged down the concrete stairs on his face. As deputies held his arms behind his back, they allowed his head to dangle and thump against every stair. At this point Ruiz may have already lost consciousness, and was making no attempt to lift his head. Video shows him lifelessly suffering head trauma on the descent down the stair case.

“I just felt sick to my stomach,” said Richard Erickson, a retired police detective. “I’d never seen anything like this before, even when I was with the police department.”

Dont judge the officers if you werent there.

In too many situations, the media is all too ready to paint a negative picture of Law Enforcement. I dont know what really happened at this scene, I wasnt there. The only information I know is from the media.

First consider this, if it were'nt for the mans erractic behavior in the first place, the police would'nt respond.

Also consider that the news media is out to make money. Distorting or streatching the truth, or omitting facts, is a way of sensationalizing a story. Which means mor sales in newspapers and higher ratings on TV.

Love the passion, find out the facts prior to spewing. Corners report has yet to be published, at least as far as I know. Propaganda or fact or manipulated facts. I guess one has to draw the line somewhere. You draw yours, I'll draw mine. ALL I simply stated was cause and effect. The man had recorded history. NOT THAT THIS WAS RIGHT.......but the man had recorded history. (one more time.....really slowly.........cause and effect)
As for wild, unrestrained LEO's, I do not state there are not any. What I do state is that most respect their positions and the Law. (beat me up as you please. Especially if it makes you fell better)

Interesting thread. I had to chime in on this part of it. One thing that applies to LEO that does not apply to those they interact with is the need to de-escalate a situation and respond with appropriate force. That level of force is a fluid thing that can change throughout an encounter. Once a person is compliant or detained/restrained, the LEO need to adjust their attitude to match the circumstances. I think most of the things like this we see (think Rodney King) are not because there is a good guy being beat down or killed by the man, it is from LEO letting emotion, adrenaline and/or vengeance compromise their situational awareness.
-
I think it has always happened, but 20 years ago everyone on the street wasn't in possession of a video camera (phone). I don't think that LEO are getting better or worse, I just think the bad ones are getting recorded and the internet makes publishing it easy.
