Lastly, I’m curious to understand, ‘Why’ an older man, ‘standing on the brink of eternity’, would voluntarily rail against another man’s essentially benevolent expression of a righteous, divine, and caring God? A God that prefers to give life, and opposes only evil! What am I being presented with here? Remarkable bravery, incredible stupidity; or, more than likely, irrepressible rage? We took our marriage vows very seriously, not only to God, but to each other. We never really looked at marriage from a strictly religious standpoint, but at the love for each other. Being married to me wasn't easy for my wife since I had to go overseas quite often but she stuck with me. We have endured some hard times while raising three children and military pay was never that great. As my wife often said, we ate canned goods at the first of the month and nearly resorted to eating labels at the end of the month. We struggled through the hard times and thoroughly enjoyed the more prosperous times. Whatever hardships we had, we worked through them together and built a lasting relationship. Today, couples don't look at marriage that way. They get married for a weekend or a month and at the first sign of a problem, they head to divorce court. Immorality has made it too easy for couples to simply call it quits and find someone else before the ink is dry on their divorce papers. They don't even listen to their marriage vows and their oath to God. After all, He has become irrelevant to the modern generation. We are Catholics and, thankfully, fall into a lower divorce rate category. We have kept our vows to God. Unfortunately, religion is falling by the wayside for some and I would think that is the reason for the higher rates. The falling away in the end time has been foretold by the Bible so we shouldn't be surprised. Simple cohabitation seems to be taking the place of marriage now!

My wife and I will be married 46 years in a couple of months. We made vows to each other, not to any god or anyone else, in fact god was not mentioned and there was no praying, when we said our vows.

God has nothing to do with marriages, the thrive or fail based only on the two people, and their commitment to each other. And as the map and graph I posted above show, seems to be a negative force in the sanctity of marriage.

Asking for your views on facts is not baiting, it is trying to gleen some insight to what makes you tick, and to help you achieve that also.

And apparently it has done that, in the either you won't post your personal views as it will show you as a hate filled christian, a hypocrite if you will, or you don't have the character to actually examine why you are so opposed to SSM. On the surface you justify it because you think your bible instructs to hate others, a very shallow reason, and possibly afraid that if you really examined how your hate impacts others you might have a change of heart.
