Actually great, retired, family, health, comfortable, want for very little, and don't have a head full of fantasies/fears of vindictive egotist sky daddies. Now the fact that you would pose that question is very telling of your wish that I was (sic) miserable, but sorry to disappoint you, life is great. But (sic) you need practice in the disappointment area, for when you die, you are going to be very disappointed to find you have been chasing a fricking fantasy your whole life.
According to your own stated philosophy, 'How' is he even going to know? (He'll be dead, correct!) Furthermore in consideration of the, 'boatload of angst' you dumped on this thread in your first post, I very much doubt that for you, 'life is great'. (Something's really eating at you; isn't it!) Instead, I'm inclined to believe that you either drink a lot, or simply aren't being candid with everyone - including yourself.
More than this, with an incomprehensibly vast universe all around us, and more than a trillion, trillion stars overhead, 'Why' would any superior governing intellectual greater than, say, ‘the arrogant and preposterous fleas' who are constantly crawling all over this planet particularly care what one of those fleas thinks? Can any man successfully chide the God Who created him? Surely, a person your age MUST realize that the quality of his daily life can change in all of one short moment, yes! Yes? (Kind 'a like, '
Here today, gone tomorrow’.)
Let me be perfectly honest with you: That Bible which you so obviously reject clearly states, '
The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom.' Not wisdom, itself, mind you, but, only the beginning of wisdom. The Lord Jesus Christ (Who never herded goats.) said, ‘
He that hath ears let him hear.’
Why? Most likely because perverse human nature is such that all men tend to hear only what they’re inclined to hear, and little, if anything, else. Like most things in life, ‘selective hearing’ seems to be a principal function of what Sacred Scripture euphemistically refers to as, ‘heart’. Some men have it; but, quite frankly, it’s been my experience that most men don’t. What is more, …… if that realization doesn’t give even a reasonably intelligent man pause then, trust me on this, it should - It really should! (Read
Proverbs 1:22-33. It’ll spell everything out for ya.)
None of which is to say that Christians and Jews live out their lives in fear of some, ‘goat herder's god’. (Your words, not mine! I’m neither brave, nor foolish enough to publish anything like that - Not even if I were to think it which, thankfully, I’m not.)
Lastly, I’m curious to understand, ‘Why’ an older man, ‘standing on the brink of eternity’, would voluntarily rail against another man’s essentially benevolent expression of a righteous, divine, and caring God? A God that prefers to give life, and opposes only evil! What am I being presented with here? Remarkable bravery, incredible stupidity; or, more than likely, irrepressible rage? Of what benefit is it to someone to rant and rave against another man’s peaceful concept of God - A God which, in fact, might actually be present and listening, perhaps with measured contempt, to every word!
Wouldn’t, ‘the smart move’ be to quietly shake your head and remain silent - Hmmm?
