Springfield 1911 EMP

Went to local gun shop today to look for another 9mm. preferably smaller than the XDm. XD sub-compact, Ruger LC9, and Beretta Nano all out of stock. However----I REALLY like the new Springfield 1911 EMP, but def. NOT the price: $1150!! Really?! I can get a full-sized 1911 in .45 for a little more than 1/2 that price....I know it isnt much smaller than the XDm, but I've always liked the look/feel of a 1911, but price and heavier caliber always turned me off. For simplicity sake, I like the idea of sticking with a 9mm. and I know my wife can handle the 9mm as well.

Has anyone shot the 1911 EMP yet? How does it handle? Doesn't hurt ot keep it on the back burner of my wishlist........

I picked one up as a replacement for my G26, I love it. I am a big fan of the 1911 and really like the full grip you get with the EMP. I had the plus 2 extension on my G26 but found that the extension would bite the fingers as you shot, after shooting a couple of mags it would cause me to alter my grip to try get away from the bite. Yes I have fewer rounds but I am not thinking about the pain from the shot and can concentrate what needs to be done. I have only put a few hundred rounds thru mine so far but find the trigger is good and the things shoots were you point it. I picked up a crossbreed holster to go with it IMO it is the best CC combo I have found.

I have shot my friend's EMP and love it. I know the price is high but it is worth it. If you like the 1911 and you want an excellent carry gun, I recommend you save up.
