Yet many people do not celebrate it as a religious ceremony. Many people celebrate in a manner that has nothing to do with a christian god. The name of the holiday doesn't change that

No one is saying that Christmas wasn't named after Christ.

This proves you're lamer than I thought.

Yea, I especially enjoy the madness of all the christians spending on Black Friday, including the night outside Best Buy or Wal-wart and then get in a fist fight inside for the single TV that is on sale for Christmas...

Well actually I'm home in bed at the time, but will catch it on the news that evening.

If it makes you feel any better, I don't give a crap about Easter. Since my kids are older now, I don't hide eggs in the back yard anymore. Colored eggs are what that holiday is about, right?

Haha. Face the facts, one need not be a christian to celebrate Christmas. Just as one can celebrate Cinco de Mayo without doing so in remembrance of the Battle of Puebla. I don't know why such a some concept is something you are fighting against.

Yea, nothing exemplifies an execution, burial and resurrection like a mammal laying colored eggs.

Think of this. For G-d so loved the World that he sent His only Begotten Son (so mankind could bow down to stone and clay idols, recite endless sayings and follow a leader into oblivion) (So that once a year you light up a tree in your house spend money to buy things for kids and to color eggs to hide and say a rabbit hid them) (So that on a certain Tuesday you could eat drink and make merry and then fast for a while) (To hide all the truth about Him and his Son so that only a few learned men could tell you what He wanted you to do) (So you would have to jump thru hoops to earn salvation). NO. For G-d so loved the World He gave his only begotten son to take the sins of the World to the Cross, die and be raised from the dead to save all who would believe in Him and call him Lord.

Yea, nothing exemplifies an execution, burial and resurrection like a mammal laying colored eggs.

What you say is true. The Apostle Paul warned the Believers in the pagan capitol of Colossi to be wary of heathen traditions that would "spoil" the followers of Messiah. Despite his warning, the modern "Christian" church has turned a deaf ear to the Creator's instructions and has adopted the form, philosophy and traditions of Babylonian pagan Tradition.

(Jeremiah 10).."Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen. The customs of the people are vain: for a tree is cut out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They decorate it with silver and gold; they fasten it with hammer and nails so that it cannot move. They are both stupid and foolish, instructed by worthless idols made of wood!"

(1 Samuel 15:22).."Has the LORD as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of divination, and insubordination is as iniquity and idolatry".

Believers are instructed...DO NOT IMITATE PAGAN TRADITION, for it is an ABOMINATION TO GOD.

I haven't had a Christmas tree in 15 years. I do however have a nativity scene in my house. Christmas is not about fancy tree lights. It is about the celebration of Jesus Christ, and nothing else. If it wasn't for Christ, there would not be Christmas. Jesus IS the reason for the season.

Why do you celebrate it then? Because everyone else does? And all Cinco de Mayo is about is an excuse to drink, sort of like St. Patrick's Day. Until the illegal aliens started pushing for non-existent rights, no one I knew even knew what Cinco de Mayo was, other than it was "some Mexican holiday" that even MEXICANS can't explain. You probably had to look up that minor battle yourself before your post.

Christmas is about CHRIST. It doesn't matter if we celebrate it on the actual day of His birth -- what matters is that we celebrate it. December 25th is that day. Anyone who celebrates Christmas for any other reason is just a sheep who does it because all his friends do. And maybe to score some presents.

If that's what it's about for you, awesome! However, that's not what it's about for everyone. Some people celebrate in a manner that has nothing to do with a christian god.

Are you asking me?

PS- Just because you and the people you know are ignorant of history doesn't mean that everyone is.

And, celebrating a man on a day that he wasn't born because religious leaders have taught you to? Talk about a sheep...

Say all you want but, it's still Christ mas! The celebration of Jesus Christ.

sinful nature is always hostile to God....

Good for you!

Still, the fact remains that many people celebrate the holiday in a manner that has nothing to do with a christian god. Do you not believe that to be true?

I have to say this whole Christmas argument is about the dumbest thing I've heard in a while. The fact that any christian is criticizing anyone for celebrating a holiday that is about the birth of their God is insane. One side of your mouth is saying you should worship him too. The other is saying it's our holiday. You can't celebrate it because you don't believe in him. I don't recall that attitude being taught in the bible. It is indicative of the way most of you all act. Preach love and then toss it aside when it doesn't suit your needs.

First I don't know SR9's race, nor do I even know if he is employed. But if he is not black, and his employer observes MLK day, would he still take a day off with pay for MLK day? Any bets?

I also suspect that many the raging racists has no problem with a paid day off in honor of a black man.

The Christ-x season is the one my family celebrate starting with the Thanksgiving week end. Family and friends wishing everyone well. However Easter should be the most celebrated as it is the day I (We, as Christians) rejoice in. The empty tomb. Is it the real date? Don't know. We did in days gone by hide eggs and play that game but that was years ago.

Jesus never told His followers to celebrate Christmas, but He did warn us not to adhere to false, man-made religious doctrines: “And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men” (Mark 7:7). The truth is, Christmas and other non-biblical religious holidays constitute vain or empty worship of Christ. In Deuteronomy 12:28-32, God told His people to worship only in the ways He commanded, telling them “Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it.” He explicitly ordered them not to copy or adopt the religious practices of the pagans, calling such practices “abominations … which He hates.”

Yet hundreds of millions of men, women and children unwittingly observe Christmas, not knowing or caring from where it came. They assume that 2 billion Christians can’t be wrong or that it doesn’t matter how we worship God so long as our intentions are good. But why should we think we honor God or please Him when we worship contrary to His commands? Jesus Christ said to those who appeared religious but denied the power of His true teaching, “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do the things which I say?” (Luke 6:46; compare Matthew 7:21). Since Christ is opposed to Christmas, why would any thoughtful Christian observe it?

God explicitly ordered them not to copy or adopt the religious practices of the pagans, calling such practices “abominations … which He hates.” God also explicitly stated that the practice of homosexuality is an abomination...which He hates. Therefor, if anyone practicing or imitating the religious practices of the pagans as defined in Scripture as an abomination is to criticize the practice of homosexuality as an abomination, is a HYPOCRITE. Again, "to OBEY is better than SACRIFICE, and to heed than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of divination, and insubordination is as iniquity and idolatry" (1 Samuel 15:22). This isn't a SALVATION issue, it's a REWARDS issue. With knowledge comes responsibility, with more knowledge comes more responsibility. Choose wisely, and please don't kill the messenger.

What are you "celebrating"? Happy Present Day? Christmas celebrates a specific event. That you choose to celebrate it just to fit in with everyone else and to have a tree and to score presents seems a bit opportunistic to me.
