Pocket and car carry

I have a G17 for home defense and a G26 in a Crossbreed Supertuck holster for CCW. I like having the same controls on both. For me the G26 is just too big to pocket carry so I ALWAYS have a Keltec P3AT in my pocket in case I need a more discrete carry option and need to leave the G26 behind. That being said, If I was delivering pizzas, I would have my G26/CBST on me all the time. If someone was going to rob you it will happen very fast. You won't be able to draw from your pocket quick enough.
In my last license renewal class we discussed it quite a bit since pocket carry has become so popular. We demonstrated over and over that an attacker 21' away will be on top of you before you can get your gun out of your pocket. We were using a Ruger LCP and the attackers were all of us in class. Not one time was the instructor able to draw!
I would carry IWB with an untucked shirt if possible and that would be your best bet for the quickest draw. When seated in your car just make sure your shirt is not over the gun so you can draw easily with one hand when seated. Always be aware of your surroundings when entering and exiting your vehicle.

No. Although the baby Glock would be close you would need a larger pocket / loose fitting pants to carry in this manner. Now the Glock comparison would work if you used a different method of carry, like the belly band, Smart Carry or IWB holsters.

There is not a match that I can think of that would allow pocket carry and car carry with the same platform and controls. Only thing even close would be a snub nose revolver and a larger revolver for the car. Even there, trigger pull weight may vary.

I carry a subcompact Glock in my pocket every day without problems, in multiple kinds of pants and shorts, even gym shorts. An of course, you can have a larger size Glock in the same caliber with the same platform in the car. So I wouldnt discourage anyone from this combo.
 
XD-S and XD. The "S" is a .45 that will fit in any pocket with a deSantis pocket holster and the XD you can get in full size or compact .45.

There are some disadvantages to pocket carry that I won't get into but the XD family is solid.

Hey, again thanks for all the input..like locking my car (something I do already).. I am learning some things..

Just in case you have not read my posts, I carry money and get in and out of my car many times in several hours. I want a small-light gun in my pocket or iwb (I will decide) for when I am "standing"... and a slightly larger gun (that will fit where I want it to in my car) that works EXACTLY THE SAME AS FAR AS BUTTONS AND LEVERS BEING IN THE SAME LOCATION AND FLIPPING THE SAME DIRECTION.. for when I am sitting in my vehicle and my pocket or iwb holstered gun is not easily accessible.

I STILL need to find a big brother / little brother combo with all the same features/BUTTONS... don't care about recoil or trigger pull length... I DON'T KNOW HOW TO WORD IT BETTER BUT IT IS STILL MY MAIN QUESTION BEFORE I GO TO THE GUNSHOP... Basically I want a small gun for my pocket or IWB AND A SLIGHTLY BIGGER GUN that everything I need to do with it I.E: reload, safety/un-safety, how I pull the trigger (NOT LENGTH OF PULL OR WEIGHT OF PULL)..AND ANY OTHER FUNCTION ARE ALL THE SAME... IN OTHER WORDS I don't want to have to think about HOW which gun I am reaching for operates... I want them both to operate EXACTLY the same.. like the safety being on the same side, and in the same location, and flicking the same way as the other gun for locked or unlocked.. and the clip/mag release button being in the same spot on each gun and operating the same way.

I am a smart enough guy to know I need to learn a lot, and be careful, but please focus on my main question which is a small gun that I can pair with a larger gun that both work the exact same way..

If this seems like a frustrated reply, it is not to anyone in particular, I FULLY UNDERSTAND that you are all trying to help. I am just getting too much information that I did not ask for and only about 5 percent of it has helped.

I think you'd be happy with the springfield xdm compacts or the glocks. Like I said my xdm 9 and 45 are the same just different caliber and plus or minus round capacity between calibers.
 
One reason you are not getting the answer you want is because there are so many options out there and everyone has a preference. From revolvers to pistols there is a gazillion options to choose from. If you ask for a opinion you will get one and they will all be different.

My opinion... I don't have a personal preference. I carry several different guns and will not know which one until that day.
From what I read in the forums, is that the Rule of thumb is carry the biggest gun you can every day. If that is a 22 derringer or a 45 that has to be up to you and what you are comfortable with. If you want something to go bang every time you pull the trigger just stay away from external safeties. My favorites are pistols (642 S&W), LCP, and Glocks. I love the fact that my 642 will go bang every time I pull the trigger. The LCP is very cheap, light and compact. I love my Glocks! The fact that extra mags from the full size version interchange with their smaller counterpart is very appealing to me.

So my choice for your scenario would be one of these. Glock 19/ Glock 26 , Glock 22/ Glock 27 , or Glock 21/ Glock 30. Then if I felt the need my 642 S&W or LCP as a bug in a ankle holster. I use them all and when you pull the trigger they do go bang. No external safeties.

Pocket carry is one of the last choices I would make. Clothing changes so much. IWB rules for me, everyone has a waist. It's something you will need to work out for yourself as everyone is different.

Not everyone can afford to buy everything out there to try. I've been collecting for over 20 years and I still see new options every time I visit the gun shop.
Another word of advice.. Cheap guns are just that.. Cheap and usually unreliable. Make sure you spend plenty of time at the range getting use to whatever you choose to carry making sure they are reliable. It's you life you are protecting.

I second Logboss here. I'm a Sig fan in a pool full of Glock lovers. Many, many manufacturers sell big/little pairs. I would go towards what I know and love - Sigs. You should go to a range that rents and try until you find what you like. Odds are, you'll be able to get a matching set of just about any major make. Hopefully you can afford two guns and all the trimmings for each.

That said, no matter what you get, practice, practice, practice! Similar controls/buttons, levers will NOT make you a proficient shooter. You're far better off to own one gun and master it, than to have an assortment you can barely shoot.

My (inflated) two-cents...
 
Ruger-SR9 and SR9c. Just the ticket, though not for pocket carry. I think that would be a bit harder to do and you just might not like the so-small pocket gun.
