\\Assault Weapons - Issues - United States Senator Dianne Feinstein

It does not only ban "assault style weapons". Her bill includes:

Bans the sale, transfer, importation, or manufacturing of:

120 specifically-named firearms
Certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and have one military characteristic
Semiautomatic rifles and handguns with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds

Bans large-capacity ammunition feeding devices capable of accepting more than 10 rounds.

Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include:

Background check of owner and any transferee;
Type and serial number of the firearm;
Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint;
Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law; and
Dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration

I contacted my Senators Al Franken and Amy Klobuchar and urged them to oppose ANY thing that had to with gun control. I know it fell on deaf ears because they are both obummer puppets. But I did try. Every one else should contact their Senators. There are many in the Senate who support the NRA but they are getting nervous and may go to the dark side. So PLEASE contact them. We can not stand by and hope for the best. The obummer morons will keep trying.

Just a reminder that the last ban didn't have the votes to pass until it did. Now is not the time to get complacent. Like any negotiation ploy, start out asking for the stars and end up settling for the moon. The point is that even if they scale it back so that only magazine over ten rounds and certain weapons, with a list less than the current 120, are banned it is still a loss and not a win for rights.

A new gun ban plan is devised daily! Most go unheard of until tragedy, then the media blows it up and gun makers profit hugely. Then after a bit it does down again. It's a vicious cycle! The scare of AR15 ban caused my LGS to sell the 6 he had priced at $1400+ in 3 hours. Now there back ordered!!! I don't believe it's a conspiracy, though it is interesting.

This may not be the Wild West anymore, but if they take guns it may be!

This doesn't make sense to a normal human! How is banning all this and picture taking going to stop a criminal with an illegal gun from shooting anyone? As a law-abiding gun owner who believes in the Second Amendment and in the inalienable right to self-defense, I urge you to plainly REJECT Sen. Dianne Feinstein's (D-Calif.) gun and magazine ban that clearly shows no respect for law abiding gun owners, their safety, or the safety of the public at large; not to mention its outright contempt for the Constitutional rights (via the 2nd Amendment) of the American citizen.

Sen. Feinstein's bill is not supported by fact, in theory or practice.

I am NOT a criminal. I don't expect to be treated like one.

Here was my letter that was sent to Sen Cornyn and Hutchinson, and will be sent to Senator Cruz once he takes office. Please feel free to use and alter, if you so desire, to contact your representative. I know the references to Texas battles may not work in the other 49 states (or wait, is there 56 other states???)

As a representative of the great state of Texas, I hope you understand and support the right of an American to keep and bear arms.

Our Founding Fathers lived under, had the foresight to see, an overbearing and oppressive Government that was intent on forcing it's will on its subjects. Our Founding Fathers did not specifically state we may only use guns to hunt, or place any other limitation on that right. They knew that once a government obtained too much power, the people would suffer. The right to own arms was to prevent the government from obtaining absolute power over its people.

We had a very tragic event in CT recently. If guns laws worked, this tragedy would not have happened. The criminal was denied the purchase of a gun, so he stole his mom's and murdered her. Guns are not allowed on school campuses, it is a Federal crime to do so. Yet, despite that law, he proceeded to take multiple guns onto the campus to fulfill his plan. He knew that no one would be there to challenge him. Criminals do not care about the laws, that is why they are criminals. The guns are not the problem. The person wielding it is.

The event that occurred in CT is not a typical day in America. It is an abberation that too many people focus on because of the tragic death of children. Yet, how many children are killed from non-gun related tragedies? How many die each day in car accidents? Do we ban cars? How many die in plane crashes? Accidental poisioning? The list could go on.

Banning guns, or specific types of guns will not prevent those intent on committing horrendous deeds. They will find a way, such as Timothy McVeigh, or the terrorists of 9/11.

Where are we now? Trillions in debt. The minority of tax payers supporting the majority of the citizens who only demand more. An out of control Government where politicians are worried more about 30 second sound bytes and winning the next election than doing the right thing for their constituents and the country. More government regulations are not the answer.

Please pledge to those of us who are responsible gun owners that we will have your support in stopping President Obama and Senator Feinstein in taking away the God given rights of citizens to own firearms, regardless of whether or not someone may falsely call it an assault weapon.

That's why Obama will rely instead on an executive order instructing the BATF and DOJ to institute their own rules. The public fight has one goal in mind - to show the world that firearms owners are crazed fanatics in order to justify the "necessity" of resorting to an EO to accomplish what the American people are supposedly crying out for. This is a psy-op, a propaganda campaign. You accomplish this by putting out a bill so extensive that it guarantees its failure, then you go to the American people, shed a few crocodile tears, and sadly explain why you had to do an end run around the legislative branch in order to make the public safe from a few loonies. Obama has pledged publicly to use ALL of the resources at his disposal to make this happen; that includes the unConstitutional executive order, which has become a means of propagating fiat law.
