More likely it will be against our armed camp agencies. The military is the least of our worries and many in the case of what you are thinking will be on our side doing what their oath requires. Defending us from enemies both foreign and domestic.

Kind of like what happened after Katrina? Boston? The Bonus Army? Wait...no that was our military...unless of course one believes the national guard isn't a military branch...even though they are used like one

Are you saying my family didn't fight in any wars? Two uncles in Vietnam died fighting for the United States government (both in the Asian side), both grandpa's served in ww2, a brother, few uncles, and few cousin served in the navy. Nice try.

I'm also only half Asian, my mother's grandparents came from Europe.

If that's the case I would think you would have more respect for the military

The big question is will the military consider us to be the domestic enemy??? With the mentality of our youth today it's a crap shoot.

No thanks. I have a busy enough life. I don't meet people to respect them, I meet them if my life puts them in the same path, respect is earned at that point.

Why's marines? Are they going to hurt me for not blindly respecting them? Sounds like a very respectable group of people...If that was your attempt at getting me to respect more strangers in the military, you just did a piss poor job at it.

Cool aid? What are you talking about? Do you even know what that means or in what context that makes sense? Because it doesn't in this case...smh...

Whoa. This is starting to get out of hand and a misinterpretation of each others comments. The comment about your ancestors coming here was only an example of what I was trying to say about immigrants...they came to better themselves, as you said yours did. Nothing wrong with that and nothing was meant about the patriotism of you or your family. I think we should just let this thread die a natural death and come back together on a more neutral subject. For my part, I meant no insult to your ancestor immigrants nor any of your family who served and died in the military. As I said, this has gotten way out of hand so I am dropping out and would suggest we all drop the subject.

No problem grunt. I didn't find any of your posts disrespectful, but the one you are referring to was towards mooosie who clearly inferred my family never fought for this government with his follow up response.

He then turned the argument ad hominem. Some how though, I'm supposed to respect him just because he served?

You and mooosie can bail out if you wish. I'll be here if anyone cares to exchange opinions.

Just so no offense is given is what matters. Love exchanging opinions and will disagree with some and agree with others but that is the fun of this whole thing! If we all agreed on everything, it would soon become very dull.

thanks for the update

Center for American Progress is trying to re-package an AWB to make it more likely to pass in congress by calling it a purchase permit system. They haven't studied why the AWB has consistently failed to pass in recent years. (...)

Thanks for the update. I just looked into this, and I hadn't realized the full details of Center for American Progress's involvement in this scheme, though now I am aware of it due to that I noticed your post and have now researched it a bit more. I just blocked all their accounts on twitter, where some thousands of people follow me (under a different pseudonym).

Cheers!

(By the way, John Podesta, @johnpodesta on twitter, is the Founder of @amprog (Center for American Progress) and @equitablegrowth; was White House Chief of Staff to Pres. @BillClinton, and tweets from @Podesta44 while he serves as Counselor to President Barack Obama (@BarackObama on twitter). So I've blocked Podesta's accounts as well.)
