NavyLCDR, I do not think it is a cop bashing thread. I was a cop for 20 yrs in the military and Dep. Sheriff in 2 states. I would like to say that there are bad examples in every profession and usually that is because of poor leadership. I applaud this man for standing tall backed up by his rights. I know I would have been hard pressed not to say what was on my mind. I hope he takes it further, maybe sues all parties there as well as their departments. Cop is not always a bad word, as reverend is not always a good word, in my experience.

I don't know how it is in other states but in NJ many cops will bully the ignorant into unknowingly surrendering their rights. in this case the typical bullying was happening as evidenced by the threat to force them out of the home until a warrant was obtained or the threat to remove the child from the family. if some want to call it cop bashing when noting the bad things some cops do so be it. maybe some cops, some whole departments, some prosecutors and some judges need a good bashing.

Well this case got mentioned on Hannity tonight, and apparently Governor Christie has written a letter to the attorney general asking her to 'investigate' this event.

I think in most cases it doesn't even have to come to "bullying." People these days are so ignorantly enamored with and trusting of police that they'll gladly give up all their rights with a simple request.

Hat Tip to the patriot who stood up to these thugs... why on earth would any Police Chief, Capt, Section Sargeant, whatever... even be complicit in an act such as this. First, what evidence was shown that a child was in danger and on what condition was it even deemed credible or threatening? Second, why is this police force intimidating, bullying, and threatening a citizen without a warrant? I have got to believe that the first two weeks of any police academy would have this little section of OUR CONSTITUTION highlighted - WARRANT NEEDED TO ENTER PRIVATE PROPERTY - UNLESS IN HOT PURSUIT OF A FELON OR OPEN EVIDENCE OF A FELONY. But in today's world, our Constitution is rapidly becoming meaningless, a hinderance to those in power and creeping further and further down the authority chain. People better wake up quickly, the Police State is coming to the venue called - YOU!

sir: all your questions and conclusions are spot on, however in NJ you have a law enforcement community that feels the law does not apply to them, they feel they are above the public and they will bully the public. only a very small amount of people have the wherewithal to stand up to them like this man did.
