Is it true that you can’t carry in a restaurant that serves alcoholic beverages, even if you’re not consuming said beverages?

Not all of us!

Yep, its true. Some of us are hoping this will change soon.

I'm not hoping it will change, I don't drink so I don't think I should have to disarm myself when going into a restaurant or any establishment that serves alcohol. If you value your CCW permit, don't drink while carrying.

:angry:well I guess I'll have to disarm before I go eat dinner if they serve alcohol while I'm In Oh. I don't drink, so its a "punish everyone for the few who think it's OK to drink and carry" situation. I'm originally from Ohio, and I'm glad you all finally got a CC law. Oklahoma's law prohibits drinking or drugging while carrying, sound like common sense to me.

Just to make sure, It OK in a restaurant that doesn't serve alcohol?

First Post-Hello All

Having just attending a class in PA for a UT Concealed Carry License I can confirm that it is against OH law to carry anywhere in OH where alcohol is served, whether you are drinking or not.

I personally would not drink while carrying anyway but I don't like having to disarm just to enter the property but as of now that is the law.

In all likelihood

In all likelihood, the Senate bill which passed should pass hte House after summer recess. The Governor said he would sign it immediately. Most Ohio CCW's thought it would have passed before summer recess, baut time ran our. so we just have to waitr another month or so.:pleasantry:

so in ohio you can carry a firearm in a restraunt if you are not drinking, i always thought you could carry in a restraunt when their main source of business was food.

It is a felony to carry in any restaurant that serves alcohol, it doesn't matter whether you abstain from drinking or not. Percentage of sales is meaningless in Ohio.

It doesn't look like it will make it this year. I think strickland could have urged the house to get on with passage and sent to his desk for signing. They let it die.

Maybe Kasich will get the ball rolling after Jan1.

One can only hope......I like to eat at allot of places that also serve booze, I hate taking my damn gun off and leaving it in the car.

Just playing devil's advocate here, If it is concealed how would anybody know you were carrying? I kind of figure that as long as I don't need it, nobody would know I have it, and if I need it, then I don't care if they know I have it. And I've never had a pat down by a waitress.

There are very few places I'll go unarmed. Protecting my family is my number one priority. I'll give up that ability very rarely. And even though I open carry most of the time, I can be discreet when needed. I just thought that when I signed up to be a sheep dog, it was full time, not just when other people told me I had permission.

Not saying I have ever carried where I shouldn't, not saying I haven't. Just throwing in my 2 cents.

I dont drink when I have my gun, not that I drink often anyway. If I take my gun off me leave it in the car and then get in the car it is illegal for me to have my gun and to drive.

I guess Id rather get caught with my gun then get caught without it.
