Um, wow... Was this a personal or a professional Tweet? If personal, is your account sufficiently identified with you to link to your work for them? (i.e. is your Twitter account under your real name?) That seems insanely harsh. Especially from companies such as those!
(Along that line, it always surprises me the puritanical types who think that a visible breast while breast-feeding is obscene and must be banned in public places - yet they let their kids watch violence with no qualms - and often have no problem with general misogyny such as at "Hooters" restaurants.)

For starters, I'd say watch what you say on public forums about the situation. It may be salvageable.
OTT, the usual advice: update resume/LinkedIn, etc. Check Mashable's listings, etc.

No Charon, it was a professional Tweet. Something along the lines of "Here's some gun porn for ya" with a pic attachment from SHOT Show. They also cited two other reasons, both of which I refuted and replied with e-mail proof. I think it was just the "gun porn" thing that really pissed them off. Which to me warrants a talking-to, not firing. But oh well.
I'm just hoping someone on this forum might know someone who could use a firearms writer.

Heh heh! Don't encourage me, B! This time, I actually tried to tone down my usual terrier tactics. I told the boss I wish he would have spoken to me in person rather than e-mail, because then maybe he wouldn't have jumped to false conclusions (I provided e-mails that showed he was making false accusations). He responded that I burned my bridges by insulting him with the "conclusions" comment.
So, yeah, obviously at this point there's no need for me to be tactful. But one of my former bosses IS an attorney, and I was working on a contract basis. I'm pretty much dead to rights.
On the bright side, I have two more paychecks coming, and a little time to find another job.
Anyone want to buy an "artsy" little house in Sandpoint?!

Have you thought about being an instructor? The sport needs female instructors badly. It provides decent fallback money for very little work. One weekend NRA pistol instructor course gets you started. All our safety instructors are part-time and have careers as LEO and such but they make $500-$600 on Saturday teaching basic pistol. The PP instructors are pulling in about $2,000 for a weekend 14-hour class. Too bad you weren't located in NY as we would welcome a female instructor to the group. Keep your head up and remember as one door closes another opens.

The term you used is accepted all over the industry and was just on one of the Son's of Guns episodes. Our family will be praying for you to replace that income.

Hell, the use of "porn" to refer to pictures of items people will want in *ANY* industry is fairly well accepted. "Car porn" for sports cars, "computer porn" well, that could mean pictures of impressive computers or..... :-D
I don't know anyone there now, but Calico Light Weapon Systems in Cornelius Oregon is/was a good company to work for, with a decent company ethic. You may try there. (They could DEFINITELY use someone with your skills.)
