Getting pulled over in Arizona.......Awesome!

I have to agree with the cop on this one. If you're going to carry a weapon load the chamber and leave the damn thing alone

+1 for me. Carry it ready to go, or be prepared to pistol-whip your attacker while he's stabbing/shooting you.

I used to carry without one in the chamber. A friend had me practice drawing and dry-firing while he used a stopwatch, then did the same as he approached me from 15 feet. Not once was I able to draw, rack, and fire in enough time to actually protect myself under those restricted conditions.

I now carry in a manner that all I have to do is draw, point, and fire. My M&P 40C and P3AT don't have external safeties other than the length of the trigger pull. My effective reaction times have gone WAY down.

I feel if you are in posession of a loaded firearm and a LEO pulls you over I let him know by presenting both of my licenses. I know there are some out there who say it is no ones business and I agree you might get a real douche for a LEO,but in my mind its just courtesy to a person who risks everything, everyday they are on duty, but on the same hand, the way America is shaping up today,we all risk our lives by stepping into public.

depends what state you're in......in florida we don't have to tell an officer we have a gun on a traffic stop unless they ask and i would think they should have a good reason for even asking imo

Maybe you can explain this logic to me....as of yet, nobody has been able to answer this:

You get stopped by a LEO for speeding. Millions of people speed every day with no intention of harming a police officer if stopped, but some people feel the need to show their license and tell the officer about their gun when not required by law to do so. During a traffic stop, how does showing the license and telling about the gun reduce any danger to the police officer? You weren't going to be tempted to shoot him before showing your license were you? YET....

Millions of people walk into convenience stores every day with no intention of robbing or harming the clerk. Yet that convenience store clerk has no idea if you intend to buy a cup of coffee, or shove a gun in their face to rob or harm them. There is just as much chance (maybe even more) of a convenience store clerk encountering a criminal in their line of work as a police officer does during a routine traffic stop...so, by the same logic, why not show the license to the store clerk and tell them about your gun? OR....

How about the bank teller? Doesn't the bank teller have as much chance of encountering an armed robber rather than a law abiding customer as a police officer does during a routine traffic stop? Or a taxi driver picking up a fare that has flagged them down on the street?

So, really, can someone explain exactly why there is a difference? If the reason for showing the license is really "but in my mind its just courtesy to a person who risks everything, everyday they are on duty," then why not extend the same "courtesy" to everyone else "who risks everything, everyday they are on duty,"?

Right on Navy. Unless required by law I will not notify. It can complicate things. Besides even IF a person notifies the cop that he(she) is packing a cop should NOT let their guard down because the person in the car MIGHT not be the lawful owner of the car and could use the 'ruse' of 'officer I wish to notify you that I am carrying a gun' to catch the cop off guard and assault the cop. Within the past year I was pulled over for a tail light that was out. The cop was nice and just wanted me to know so I would fix it, which I did the next day. I WAS carrying my revolver concealed (I have a Washington CPL) and felt no need whatsoever to tell him. Just like when I attend a ministers meeting, go shopping, train-watching, dentist, or any other activity. While I do open carry at times, when I carry concealed that means CONCEALED. I tell nobody. Whats the point of concealed carry if you tell people you are carrying? If you feel a need to inform people you are carrying a gun, OPEN CARRY! (if legal)
