but in my mind its just courtesy to a person who risks everything, everyday they are on duty, but on the same hand, the way America is shaping up today,we all risk our lives by stepping into public.
Maybe you can explain this logic to me....as of yet, nobody has been able to answer this:
You get stopped by a LEO for speeding. Millions of people speed every day with no intention of harming a police officer if stopped, but some people feel the need to show their license and tell the officer about their gun when not required by law to do so. During a traffic stop, how does showing the license and telling about the gun reduce any danger to the police officer? You weren't going to be tempted to shoot him before showing your license were you? YET....
Millions of people walk into convenience stores every day with no intention of robbing or harming the clerk. Yet that convenience store clerk has no idea if you intend to buy a cup of coffee, or shove a gun in their face to rob or harm them. There is just as much chance (maybe even more) of a convenience store clerk encountering a criminal in their line of work as a police officer does during a routine traffic stop...so, by the same logic, why not show the license to the store clerk and tell them about your gun? OR....
How about the bank teller? Doesn't the bank teller have as much chance of encountering an armed robber rather than a law abiding customer as a police officer does during a routine traffic stop? Or a taxi driver picking up a fare that has flagged them down on the street?
So, really, can someone explain exactly why there is a difference? If the reason for showing the license is really "but in my mind its just courtesy to a person who risks everything, everyday they are on duty," then why not extend the same "courtesy" to everyone else "who risks everything, everyday they are on duty,"?
