boycotting New York

I for one feel that New York will not get a dime of my money even though I am from Pa. We usually go to Tug Hill snowmobiling but this year we changed our plans and are gonna go Michigan's Upper Pennisula to do some sledding. We also had a vacation planned this summer to go to New York City but that was just cancelled too.I know this will not hurt New York but it makes me feel better. Guess we are plannin on heading to Montana instead! I like the scenery there better anyway. This is the same thing we do dealing with Illinois, we fuel up in Indiana and do not stop till we get through Ill., then we stop and reload our pistols. Just don't want to give them any money that will go towards their tax base.

All you did was hurt some poor merchant who has nothing to do with NY politics or policies... unless of course it was NYC. Then I say boycott them.

Not nessessarily true. The majority on the citizens of NY state voted for the current politians on office so chances are it will financially hurt a business that supports the state if enough take the plunge. Especially businesses in and just north of NYC. Call them accessories to the anti-gun criminals running the state.

Born in IL and refuse to go back, lived in NYC and refuse to go back. As best I can I follow who is pro gun or neutral and spend my money there.

Thought of that , but decided to help some merchants in a state that actually helps it citizens with the tax money. I met some real nice people in Tug Hill and still in touch with some of them, but do believe we will meet some nice people in the Upper Peninsula.

Let me enlighten you on NYS politics and voters. State population 19 million. NYC population 8 million. Suffolk County population 1.5 million. Westchester and Rockland County population combined 1.2 million. That's nearly 11 million of the state's 19 million people. That's about 56% of the state population living in less than 3% of the state land in and around NYC, controlling the vote. Most common party affiliation is democrat. Strong liberal base. Large population of foreigners and minorities... strong anti-gun stronghold.
.
Now move upstate and have a look. About 8 million people spread across 53,000 square miles. That's about 44% of the state population living in more than 97% of the state land. Primarily republican voters who's vote is disenfranchised. By the way... nearly 1 million CCW permits in that population of 8 million. NYC and it's surrounding area controls the state. Controls the capital and controls the presidential electoral vote from NYS.
.
Upstate is farmland, mountains, deer and bear hunting, trout fishing, skiing and wilderness. Mostly regular folks. Now why, other than complete ignorance about the facts, would you punish the owner of a hunting lodge or some other pro-gun business because they don't have the voting power to control the largest city in America? Here's a few facts about upstate NY. For one, they will require permit renewal for the first time... something most other states already do. And they still have no restrictions on things like sitting in a bar armed. Try that in other states. While I don't agree with what happened I have a hard time placing blame on people who were completely blindsided by this.
.
Counties immediately adjacent to NYC are culpable as they're populated by NYC transplants who can't afford $1.2 million for a two-bedroom condo. But not true for those as close as 50 miles away. These counties offer unrestricted CCW permits within 40-50 miles of NYC. I don't expect you to understand but the people of upstate are the ones who took it in the rear, courtesy of NYC and surrounding populace. You want to blame them? Well, they're not the problem. Most of us wish NYC would secede from the state and form their own state.

I say boycott all blue States, Everyone knows that the RED States supports blue states and that IS NOT apportioned. Blue States that control the rest of the country should be put in their place, denied business from red states, and forced to comply with the true majority of America.

IMO it will help if you notify the people at Tug Hill that you are not coming and why. Hopefully they would pass that to their legislator! Although this type of boycott will hurt some good people, as JimSmitty said, the majority of NY citizens voted for the people who have caused this disaster!!! Need to learn there are consequences!!!

Solid reason for "upstate" to secede from NYC! Maybe we could just "set it a drift" and let it float over to Europe or wherever!!

Already did and got addresses to send letters to the legislatures, like I said some real nice people up there, they were disappointed but understood my position on the matter, hopefully next year this will be resolved:victory:

I for one do not care about those businesses that support NY, IL. When the pocketbooks are hit politics will change, two years ago I moved a convention which I was planning in IL to TN. Not a big one only about 300 people. Memphis was wonderful.

So you are boycotting Remington? and any company traded on the New York Stock Exchange?
Exactly my point. They're so immersed in the gun issues of NY that they're willing to take a hit to the wallet. Personally? Money drives my interests. It allows me to keep the balls in the air. Wherever I can make it or save I'll do so. My family won't suffer me as a fool and ideals don't feed the bulldog.

Need to make a stand and force these teat suckers of the American tax payers wallet off limits. NYSE is merely a stock exchange. Most companies that trade on the exchange do not actually have business in these States. BUT gee, golly nogods, you already know that. It's always nice knowing that those that wish to continue to create hate and discontentment are at least regular in their postings.
Again, why support States that do not add quality value to the rest of the contributing States? You either add to values, or bleed to overhead.

New York City and New York State live off the economic activity and taxes generated by the economic activity from Wall Street.

Every time you buy a product made by a company traded on the NYSE you are making a contribution to New York City and New York State.

Thanks for your support. Your support helps keep local taxes down.

In all fairness shouldn't everyone also boycott PA for giving it's electoral vote to Obama. 50.5% of the state went Obama. Now he stands to subvert the separation of powers through executive order designed to strip all Americans of their gun rights. The only real difference between Obama's plans and what Cuomo did is 3 rounds in a mag.

People who really want to to do something to expand the exercise of 2A rights should move to New York State before the next state election in 2014. They can always move back to wherever they came from after the election.

Of course, those anti-gun New Yorkers who what to spread their anti-gun laws to other states could do the same thing in reverse.

Given the ineffectiveness of all the corporate pac expenditures last election, that may be the next wave of electioneering. Masses of people moving from state to state to swing the vote. I'm going to start investing in moving companies.

You're a hair apart. You have renewals, now so do we. You can carry more ammo, we have to carry another mag. And the feds are trying to get the large cap mags banned everywhere. The whole NY thing stinks. Despite all the crap we can still hang out at the bar armed. I don't understand it. Be careful of Philly. It's the big cities that vote Obama.
