Bersa Thunder 380

From my wife's first shot using a friend's Bersa, I don't think she's ever missed with that weapon. So I decided it was time to get her her own. I've noticed that over the past few months, the price has been doing nothing but going up on these guns.

Now, mind you, I was planning on purchasing it anyway, but I went ahead and asked the sales guy why the prices were steadily increasing. He told me that it was because Bersa is no longer manufacturing the Thunder and that the supply of these models that are out in circulation are what's left.

I was just curious if anyone else has been told this, or heard about it, or perhaps read an article. I wasn't sure if it was factual (not that I'd call him a liar, great people to chat with and all), but I also wasn't sure if it was a sales pitch to get me to buy the gun (which, like I said, I was going to do anyway).

Thanks, y'all.

Im thinking you were given a sales pitch. I own 2 Bersa 380's one of which I just picked up today for the same price it has been for over a year. I agree that Bersa have increased in price as a general rule but not because they arent making the 380 any longer. I believe it is from a number of issues; the economy, demand ( 380's are in high demand, especially Bersa because of there price and reliability) are just a couple examples. I belong to Bersa chat as well and the importer of Bersa'a is also there and there has been no mention of any discontinued model. If yould like, come on over to Bersa Chat Forum - The Front Page and join. Lots of great knowledgeable people there and you can get any question answered.

I too recently purchased the Thunder 380. My dealer has sold several of them in the passed year and told me he had ordered several more do to the demand. The demand alone would be enough to drive the price up. I'm also glad to learn of the Bersa Chat Forum. Thanks for posting that.

They came out with a new thunder 'combat' at shot show this year... my edc is a thunder 380 plus (15+1) I love that pistol

Dollar to doughnuts that was a sales pitch. Doubt very seriously Bersa would stop production of their top selling item. That'd be like Chevrolet stopping production of the Silverado.
