And that's why you carry "condition one" ready to fire !!! Any other way and he would be dead. !!!
True, but it's better than taking the chance of just wounding him. My CC instructor told me I can't shoot them again once they're on the ground. So...better to make sure before they fall.
That isn't exactly a correct statement. You shoot to stop the threat. Just because he is on the ground does not always mean the threat is stopped. If he/she is lying on the ground and still in posession of a firearm that person is still a threat.
To clarify, I CAN keep shooting as long as they're a threat. That's all good. But according to the instructor, if they are laying on the ground, no longer armed, I'd better not go finish them off. But I still probably would as long as there was a weapon within their reach. Actually my instructor would probably say at that point, I should be running away.
Fixed it for you.
"Running away" from the scene of the crime could be very hard for your attorney to explain in court.
I think I understand where your instructor is coming from, but, as others said, I'd rather keep shooting and moving and looking for cover until the aggressor is no longer a threat or I run out of boolits, at wish point, I should have found cover.

You didn't put that part in your original post. If they're no longer a threat, you can't keep shooting. Running away would be the WORST thing to do. Stay until the police arrive but DON"T SAY ANYTHING until you've talked to an attorney.
Wonder why we're not hearing about this in the media? I'm gonna guess that it's because it wasn't a white man shooting a Black man.
