Armed thug robs & shoots victim, The victim has a CHL...Armed thug = Dead thug.

True, but it's better than taking the chance of just wounding him. My CC instructor told me I can't shoot them again once they're on the ground. So...better to make sure before they fall.

That isn't exactly a correct statement. You shoot to stop the threat. Just because he is on the ground does not always mean the threat is stopped. If he/she is lying on the ground and still in posession of a firearm that person is still a threat.

Tell that to jerome ersland

To clarify, I CAN keep shooting as long as they're a threat. That's all good. But according to the instructor, if they are laying on the ground, no longer armed, I'd better not go finish them off. But I still probably would as long as there was a weapon within their reach. Actually my instructor would probably say at that point, I should be running away.

You didn't put that part in your original post. If they're no longer a threat, you can't keep shooting. Running away would be the WORST thing to do. Stay until the police arrive but DON"T SAY ANYTHING until you've talked to an attorney.

Fixed it for you.

"Running away" from the scene of the crime could be very hard for your attorney to explain in court.

I think I understand where your instructor is coming from, but, as others said, I'd rather keep shooting and moving and looking for cover until the aggressor is no longer a threat or I run out of boolits, at wish point, I should have found cover.

Thank you. That's exactly what I meant.

Exactly. (This is to satisfy the 15 character minimum.)

Agreed. Our instructor made that very clear.

Wonder why we're not hearing about this in the media? I'm gonna guess that it's because it wasn't a white man shooting a Black man.

It's because it's not about gun control, the media don't want or can't to hear about this, it's about people control. They know that guns in the right hand save life but they want to control you.

I would if I knew who Jerome Ersland is. well MAAYBE I would, I'm really tired of trying to educate folks that refuse to listen to what I am willing to share with them, even though I try not to get defensive, or talk over their head.

Good one less BG! If we hear the media report this we will surely hear how the BG was a "Good Person"!

Don't forget his Mama waxing on about how he was an aspiring rapper, being scouted by the NBA (or getting a new trailer), and getting his life together after making some bad choices. Anyhow, aside from the expenditure of ammo, I love a happy ending.

Taking someones life is something I hope none of us will ever half to do are anyone else for that matter. But with that being said I will defend myself and my families life till there is no more threat detected from a thug. If that means taking life then it will half to be. It isn't in the paper yet but this older couple over the weekend had there house broke into just up the road from where me and my wife live. The couple was in there late 70s and two guys broke into there house and the older gentleman shot them both with a 12 Gauge. When they drop the paper I will post it. The older lady and the older man were not hurt. But both the robbers were shot. I was happy to hear that. Right up the road from us now the wife doesn't question me why we have firearms anymore. I heard from a neighbor that the older man was retired military and I was like hell yeah way to go. That is one older couple that sent a message to the bad guys.

Wellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll, if he was "trying to get to his gun again"....Bang Bang-repeat.

:frown:I take issue with what your instructor said. Just because he is on the ground he is not necessarily neutralized, and the threat is not automatically removed until he is either dead or showing obvious signs of surrender...
