any ideas on how to get my girlfriend interested in firearms

My wife is a NYC girl so I had trouble right from the start.
I did get her to the range and she proved to be a very good shot!
Things were going great and she wanted to go to the range quite a bit.
But then ole Mr. Murphy stuck his nose in and one day, while I was distracted, I had a negligent discharge in our bedroom.
Hold the jokes please. That single incident has soured my wife on guns completely!
I blew a hole through three rooms and almost blew out the window in her office.

I have over twenty five years experience with handguns and I choose that moment to screw things up.
Moral of my story is pay attention to the rules and keep your finger off the trigger!

Sent from behind enemy lines.

Buy a 22 pistol like a Buckmark. Ruger mk series or even a p22 and a suppressor then pick up a case of subsonic ammo. Things will go well.. No noise no recoil and wicked fun. I use suppressed 22's for the new shooters class and have converted some pretty serious "I do not wanna touch that gun" ladies..

I taught my wife to shoot with a Stevens 22 single shot using shorts at cans & plastic bottles. For heavens sake don't have her punching paper until she's hooked amd wants to shoot for accuracy. Otherwise punching paper is boring and she'll probably quit on you.

Take her to a cowboy action shooting match or two. Go here SASS-Home of Cowboy Action Shooting then click on SASS Clubs. There are clubs in every state. We shoot @ steel and reactive targets. She'll see women & kids shooting & will be invited to try a stage or two. Watch out she and you may both get hooked & the guns and outfits aren't cheap. But you'll have the most fun you can have standing up with your clothes on.

I have a S&W 22 sport, and my daughters all love it. There is NO recoil, it is deadly accurate, and they say that the endorphins released when firing a gun actually give you a kind of high. When they each first shot, after seeing they were close to but not in the bullseye, they had to try another shot. Even now that they are great shots, it is still the challenge of cutting that X. I guess the key would be the competitiveness, even if it is just to better your last shot.
