Debray - could we expand this post to include any models of the high powered air - guns? Starting to look at them myself, totally ignorant as to brand quality, accuracy, velocity, cal. potency - .17 vs. .22?, etc. -- Any info would probably help us all.

Is cost a factor? If not look at the RWS air rifles. You will find quality German made pieces. We are talking Monte Carlo wood stocks recievers and barrels that are blued to old school standards breakover action 1000fps+ pellet speed rails for scopes if you want.
I have two Rws rifles one is a out 30 years old and my new one the RWS 460 mag in 22cal size. These are not toys by any means but lets just say they dont come cheap. With about a 150 dollars more you can buy a Glock. But I live were I cant shoot a Glock in my back yard because the police and neighbors would be a lot POd.
Besides my collection of real firearms I have a few Air rifles and pistols that I can shoot safely in my backyard with a thick wood backstop.

Wizrd, I think Jetman may have answered our answers, and he is right soon the only guns we may be allowed to own will be muzzel loaders or an air guns.
