Guns in movies drive me crazy some times!

I remember in the movies way back when the cowboys use to fire a six-shooter 20 times, while riding a horse at full gallop, without reloading.

A few observations from the recent The Last Ship episode:

  • A handgun going click and not bang with the slide already locked back.
  • Shooting an AR with an ACOG at distance and not having the eye lined up behind the optic.
  • Shooting bad guys (that have rifles) with a handgun and then not picking up the rifle.

In an early episode of Blindspot. They're in a cemetery, an agent has her Glock trained on someone. Then you hear it magically de-cock as she puts it down.

My 90 yr old father in law and I have been watching a lot of old John Wayne movies. He always laughs at their ability to shoot from the saddle at full gallop, 100 yards away and the bad guy drops with one shot. Then in the next scene they're standing on the rocks shooting at each other from 30 feet away, shot after shot and never hit each other, good stuff.

How about the movies and TV of today, where the bad guys have automatic weapons capable of firing a hundred rounds, but can't hit the good guy? The good guy has a .38 snub nose revolver and kills all 3 bad guys. And why do the bad guys with the fully automatic weapons always shoot at the bottles on the bar, or the dishes and glassware and not the people hiding behind the bar or furniture? Talk about your fantasies.

I've always loved how they "throw" their shots, fired the gun sideways and how at times they shoot someone in the stomach and they are dead before they hit the floor. Or on the other extreme someone is shot so many times and places they could be an anchor for a boat and STILL aren't dead!

Hopefully the BG's all believe that is the way to shoot guns and such.

How about when they shoot a 9mm, .40 S&W, .45, .357, etc. with no recoil? They shoot follow ups as fast as with a .22lr.

Not a poll, lol. But, I wondered, what else about gun use drives you crazy when you see it in the movies. One of my peeves is when they check to see if the gun is loaded. Gun fight about to happen and what do they do? Eject the magazine to see if it there are bullets in it! Worse is when the guy ejects a perfectly good shell from the shotgun. Hollywood. What are yours? Am I missing some?
Greedo shot first.

So, I was watching the first episode of the new Lethal Weapon TV show last night. In the very beginning of this episode, there is a bank robbery and Martin Riggs goes in and does stupid stuff. Anyway, one of the bank robbers had an AR rifle with a the standard fixed A2 front sight and an odd looking rear sight that didn't line up with the front sight, possibly a flip-up rear sight wasn't flipped up. Martin Riggs proceeds to take the rifle away from the bank robber while he has his finger on the trigger, which would anyone in real life get shot, and then shoots the bank robbers with the rifle without lining up the sights (as they can't be lined up). You can see it even in the official trailer at 0:18 and at 0:40.

On the Blacklist premier, a person has a gun. It is shown very clearly to be a Glock 19 (almost a gun porn moment). The sound person put a hammer cocking sound to get to main character's attention. A hammer cock noise ON A GLOCK. Gaaaahhhhh!

I'll ignore two hammer cocking noises in the same scene from Red's gun earlier when the visuals clearly show no fingers nears hammer. At least that gun had a hammer.

At least they didn't have a stupid useless slide rack. Yes, I'm looking at you NCIS franchise. #gungripes

What is even more B/S in my book is the "actors" that do all the bang, bang, shoot 'em up over and over in the movies and then go out and stump for the gun-grabber politicians.
What a bunch of phony D1cks.

One of my favorite episodes of Big Bang Theory, Leonard and Penny are at a shooting range. They rent a 5904, bring it to their lane, Penny racks the slide and then inserts a magazine. Leonard picks up the gun which is clearly decocked with the safety on and proceeds to blow a hole in his Reboks.

Fun times.
