What's sad is that we find more and more proof refuting the historical facts that the Bible has laid out, yet you still continue to believe it.

To you a fact is something that bolsters you view point. To the rest of us a fact is the truth. Jesus is the truth, the light and the way, and none of you can prove He isn't. I've challenged you atheist at least 5 times to prove that God and Jesus don't exist. So far you've got nothing. The burden of proof is on you. So, don't comeback with this B/S asking us to prove they are real, like some of you do. Crafty move, but lame.

Yes facts ARE the truth. That's not really a debatable thing here. They do also bolster a view point when that point of view is based upon facts. Since you're point of view isn't based on facts, I could see how that would be a point of contention.

I'm fairly new here. There's no way I'm going to go back through hundred of posts to have known that. Do you know how many mindless bible quotes that would be?

I'm sorry you don't care for our "Crafty" ways, but that is how it works. The burden of proof is always on the person making the claim. You can tell me all day that unicorns are real. I'm not going to believe you unless you have proof that they existed at some point in time. And the burden never switches to me to disprove your claim that they exist, NEVER. Athiesm works exactly like that. To us Jesus is a unicorn. So telling us to prove he doesn't exist, tells us your evidence to the contrary must be lacking. Do you mean to tell me not a single document was ever discovered where he personally wrote something down or first-hand accounts written at the time of an occurrence? Not 50 or a 100 years later, but that same day or week. That Ara of Roman history is some of the best documented. There aught to be something more substantial that you all could bring besides "It's just true".

There is documentation that proved Jesus existed and verifies the Bible. Whether you care to believe or not is up to you. We have our "proof" and we are satisfied with it. Sorry you don't have any proof to prove that He didn't exist. However, if you don't think He existed and that the Bible is not true, why do you take up so much time trying to prove us wrong? Do you think if you argue against Him long enough, He will not have existed? Good luck with that. If you were so certain Jesus did not exist, why bother with us? Could it be that you might have an inkling that Jesus is real and you may actually be caught up short? Uh oh, ever think you might be in deep kimchee because of your line of thought?

I'm going to call you on knowing what that proof is. Care to post links to what it is your referring to?

I thought I covered that. It's never my responsibility to disprove that your unicorn isn't real. You're the ones making the supernatural claims. You can keep trying though. But It's not going to work.

if you're going to start threads like this in a gun forum, you're just asking for it. If you wanted everyone to to only agree with you, you should have posted on a bible website.

Atheist pretty much follow Saul Alinsky"s Rules for Radicals, while at the same time claim to be conservative pro-gun advocates. Only one thing, it's not working for you. You have convinced no one that your blather is right or of any value.

I'd never heard of those rules before. So I did what you guys don't do, I read it. They seem to be pretty good strategies. I'm not sure how they are opposite of being pro-gun. I guess if that's all you got as an argument, you run with it.
Only one thing it's not working for you. You have convinced no one that your blather is right or of any value.
I don't have to convince anyone. I just have get people to maybe think for themselves for once, and not blindly do what they are told.

My political views are conservative... I am a pro-gun advocate, gun owner, and frequent shooter... I just don't believe in fairy tales.

I have no idea why you and ringo are always trying to associate atheism with liberalism.... oh wait! I do know, it is your ignorance about atheists.

Cute that you keep using the word division. Christianity as a group are the most divided bunch. You all can't even decide amongst yourself what you believe. When Catholics, Baptists, Methodist, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Protestant, Pentecostal, Episcopalian, Mormon, Jehovah's Witness, Evangelical, Seventh-Day Adventist, Church of the Nazareth, Mennonite, Quaker, Christian Science get together as a single group, get back to me about me about being a divider.

Nope sorry brother...your name calling and constant attacks are going to get you banned. Just stop.

Not the first time you have threatened others with being banned for speaking their mind..... I guess that means you are wearing out the little report post triangle when ever you disagree with someone... Who knows, you might get banned for annoying Luke with your constant childish tattling.

But your "just stop" is cute, did you stamp your little feet while you typed that?

Heck they can't even agree on which the dozens of versions of the fairy tale reference book is the correct version.

I would love to see if just the guys on this board can agree on that. They are too busy giving each other the reach-around that it hasn't come up yet.

First, let me tell you that we are in the Off Topic forum, one of many here, and open to various topics, not only guns. I am not asking you to prove that Jesus didn't exist. Frankly, I don't care whether you believe or not. As I said, we are satisfied with our proof and you are the one trying to dispute it. Therefore, it is incumbent on you to prove otherwise, not us to prove anything. We are completely satisfied. Those of us who do post on here are in agreement about our religion, it is only people like you who are dissatisfied with seeing our posts. We aren't asking for your agreement with us, you seem to want to interject your opinions, contrary to ours.

Now, I will give you one example of the proof you demand concerning the existence of Jesus. Of course there are other proofs if you would care to research them for yourself. As I said, we are satisfied.

LETTER TO TIBERIUS CAESAR FROM PONTIUS PILATE

(The original of this letter is in the library of Rome. An authenticated copy is in the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.)

A young man appeared in Galilee preaching with humble unction, a new law in the Name of the God that had sent Him. At first I was apprehensive that His design was to stir up the people against the Romans, but my fears were soon dispelled. Jesus of Nazareth spoke rather as a friend of the Romans than of the Jews. One day, I observed in the midst of a group of people a young man who was leaning against a tree, calmly addressing the multitude. I was told that his name was Jesus. This I could easily have suspected, so great was the difference between Him and those who were listening to Him. His golden coloured hair and His beard gave to His appearance a celestial aspect. He appeared to be about thirty years of age. Never have I seen a sweeter or more serene countenance. What a contrast between Him and His hearers with their black beards and tawny complexions. Unwilling to interrupt Him by my presence, I continued my walk but signified to my secretary to join the group and listen. Later, my secretary reported that never had he read in the words of all the philosophers, anything that compared to the teachings of Jesus. He told me that Jesus was neither seditious nor rebellious, so we extended to Him our protection. He was at liberty to act, to speak, to assemble, and to address the people. This unlimited freedom provoked the Jews - not the poor but the rich and powerful.

Later, I wrote to Jesus requesting an interview with Him at the Praetorium. He came. When the Nazarene made His appearance I was having a morning walk and as I faced Him my feet seemed fastened with an iron band to the marble pavement and I trembled in every limb, as a guilty culprit, though He was calm. For some time I stood admiring this extraordinary Man. There was nothing in Him that was repelling nor in His character, yet I felt awed in His presence. I told Him that there was a magnetic simplicity about Him and His personality that elevated Him far above the philosophers and teachers of His day. All in all He made a deep impression upon me and everyone because of His kindness, simplicity, humility and love.
Now, Noble Sovereign, these are the facts concerning Jesus of Nazareth and I have taken tirne to write you in detail concerning these matters. I say that such a man who could convert water into wine, change death into life, disease into health, calm the stormy seas, is not guilty of any criminal offence and as others have said, we must agree truly this is the Son of God!

Your most obedient servant,

PONTIUS PILATE

I googled that letter. There is a bit of a dispute, even on Christian websites, to the validity of it. Some people claim to have written to the Library of Congress for verification that they indeed have it. Their response was that they didn't. So there's that. What I find odd is the the physical description of Jesus. "His golden coloured hair and His beard gave to His appearance a celestial aspect" I had always heard that he was an average looking Jew of the period. This description reminds me of someone describing the fictional picture we are used to seeing in paintings. I'm not dismissing it out-of-hand. I will continue to read into it. But it's not looking good.
