The Case for Eternal Punishment

I know, but we bonded over 30 years ago. We agree not to discuss our faith, we do range time and Wed. McDonalds.
Which is why LDS are not our brothers & sisters.

"Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness? Or what harmony has Christ with Belial, or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever"?

.... and everyone else's "god" is just a mythical figure.

Nope. Some of their "gods" are mythical creatures while some are actual historical figures, but not god. There is only one true God, in three persons, God, the Father; God, the Son (Jesus); God, the Holy Spirit. You apparently have not heard of Him, or you choose to ignore Him. Either way, you, along with many, many others WILL believe in Him but, as it has been said here numerous times before, it may be too late when you learn the truth.

Oh really?
How, pray tell does one tell one true god from another? Is there a scorecard or something?
How can I tell your mythical god from anyone else's mythical god?

Is there some empirical proof or are we supposed to take this on the church's vaunted "faith" (aka believing in something despite lack of proof)?

What separates the christian god from Vishnu, Odin, or Zeus? All of them performed miracles for their followers.... supposedly.

Tell us about Odin. How many years was Odin on earth? What books? What calender? What history? What countries are founded from following Odin?

Things that refernce Odin, like The Mayflower Compact also preambles to State Constitutions or other historical documents.

Anything other that fairytales.

I knew that would be a tough one for y'all.

In the name of God, Amen. We, whose names are underwritten, the Loyal Subjects of our dread Sovereign Lord King James, by the Grace of God, of Great Britain, France, and Ireland, King, defender of the Faith, etc.:

Having undertaken, for the Glory of God, and advancements of the Christian faith, and the honor of our King and Country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the Northern parts of Virginia; do by these presents, solemnly and mutually, in the presence of God, and one another; covenant and combine ourselves together into a civil body politic; for our better ordering, and preservation and furtherance of the ends aforesaid; and by virtue hereof to enact, constitute, and frame, such just and equal laws, ordinances, acts, constitutions, and offices, from time to time, as shall be thought most meet and convenient for the general good of the colony; unto which we promise all due submission and obedience.

It is truely shameful that our founding documents are an insult to you Sir...and The Christ they pledged their allegiance to...

May God have mercy on your soul.

What planet are you currently posting from now, for this is totally irrelevant to the conversation, as usual with your random noise.

The most compelling reason is, to me, the fact that we have written proof of what the Christian espouses....the Bible. The Bible is accurate and can be verified by historical documents and places while the atheistic view has no proof that it is wrong. To the atheist, the Bible is myth, yet one can actually find information to authenticate what is written in it while the atheists can only say they don't believe it. One may not be able to actually see God, in person, but his handiwork is all around us. There is no need to get into a long dissertation here, everything pro and con has been said before. The one thing missing with atheists is their belief, or faith, in God, or the possibility that they could be wrong. We live through faith in our God and follow the Bible as well. Today, in the liberal world, the thought of the Bible being correct, and speaks out against sin, brings a violent reaction from those who choose to not participate in religion and follow God's commandments. What used to be good is now considered to be bad and, conversely, bad things are now considered to be good. Anything condemned by God's laws is actually championed by today's society. Abortion, homosexuality, etc. are subjects that cause unbelievers tremendous problems because they are specifically mentioned as being wrong and they can not actually argue against God. If their liberal thoughts and outlook are correct, why is there such angst?

Odd, I don't remember a mention of God or Christianity in the Constitution, and nary a mention of the Christian god in the Declaration either.

Nor where they pledged anything to anyone other than each other in the Declaration of Independence...
And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.

You seem to have lost your focus and fail to recognize that the bible was written by MEN. Fallible men with fears, phobias, and agendas.

Many of the 'accounts' of events were written centuries after the event, indicating it was verbal folklore, told time and time again, each time with details added or dropped, until someone finally wrote it down. Retelling stories always alters the story, even when it is retold immediately, spread out over centuries and generations with details forgotten and added, plus human nature to "embellish", I wonder if a witness to an event would even recognize the written version. Not to mention how many times it has been translated from one language to another, and by whom? Don't know exactly what that word means, make something up that they think 'fits'.

The bible is the very suspect work of man, full of contradictions, embellishments, errors in translation, and to give it anymore credence than Aesop's Fables, is frankly absurd.

Sure some stories match up (kinda) with other historical works, but even a blind pig finds an acorn now and then.

What is offensive is that you attempt to put things into our founding documents that are not there. Christians have a bad habit of making crap up to suite their arrangement.

The word "god" does not exist in our constitution, and the word "lord" is only used as a reference to the calendar system of the date it was signed, to prevent confusion.

The bible is the very suspect work of man, full of contradictions,

People don't reject the Bible because it contradicts itself, people reject the Bible because it contradicts them.
