Why is it so hard for these people to understand. Your rights end where my begin and my rights end where yours begins, duh.
Alright einstein...... show us what RIGHT would be infringed upon by someone having a safe firing range in their backyard....

Here is a HUGE HINT.......... FEELINGS are not rights.... in other words, you do NOT have the right to FEEL safe, or to not hear sounds......

You havent a clue what RIGHTS are, we can tell by what you have written so far....

I agree - IF a bullet crosses the property line. Noise and the fear of "what if" is NOT a violation of the neighbor's rights.
Noise is a violation but only if it is during certain times. And then only if not for self defense. Do you want your neighbor blaring loud music of a type you don't like at 0300.

If my neighbor ever plays loud music at 0300, I'll wear ear plugs. Now that I think about it, we have a neighbor down the road that has loud parties in the summer. It never occurred to me that the sound waves originating from their property were invading my space.

It depends on what he is shooting also. In case you want to try an experiment, stack layers of carpet( non shag) in a cardboard box and then fire a .22 short into it. If you are lucky, it will go thru 6 layers. From about 5'.

The county here says that me mowing after 2000 is a violation of their noise ordinance but loud music that can be heard 300 ft from the source isn't until after 2300. Why should you have to use ear plugs to peaceably enjoy your property? It comes down to being considerate at times.

You not only have to be right, but you have to look right. That pallet square with sand in it is not a proper backstop.
I have the right to shoot in my yard but I chose not to put in a range because in any direction I would chose to fire If for some reason I missed the backstop I could injure or kill someone.
This 20 year old doesn't realize that stuff happens.

So, you ADMIT you have been running your mouth (fingers) without actually reading what the heck it is you are talking about in the first place? wow, troll much?

How about this, it isn't a safe backstop. What holds a pallet together? Nail, staples, or cleats. Guess what, all of those can cause a ricochet. And he has no way of retaining them. Needs a berm all the way around his sand trap. And no matter what the local cops have said, the first time he uses his firearm for anything other than self defense in that area he has violated state law.

790.15 Discharging firearm in public or on residential property.—
(1) Except as provided in subsection (2) or subsection (3), any person who knowingly discharges a firearm in any public place or on the right-of-way of any paved public road, highway, or street, who knowingly discharges any firearm over the right-of-way of any paved public road, highway, or street or over any occupied premises, or who recklessly or negligently discharges a firearm outdoors on any property used primarily as the site of a dwelling as defined in s. 776.013 or zoned exclusively for residential use commits a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083. This section does not apply to a person lawfully defending life or property or performing official duties requiring the discharge of a firearm or to a person discharging a firearm on public roads or properties expressly approved for hunting by the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission or Florida Forest Service.
(2) Any occupant of any vehicle who knowingly and willfully discharges any firearm from the vehicle within 1,000 feet of any person commits a felony of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.
(3) Any driver or owner of any vehicle, whether or not the owner of the vehicle is occupying the vehicle, who knowingly directs any other person to discharge any firearm from the vehicle commits a felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.
But they can't do anything till he does use it recklessly. The city's hands are tied till then

And here is what a safe range would look like. The berm around the area is 20' high with the backstop area closer to 30'.Link Removed

Agree! Not ONLY being considerate but also being a good neighbor! I have always done my best to be a good neighbor and have considered my neighbors in whatever I was doing or going to do.

There has been many times that I would tell my neighbors if I was going to have a lot of people over. I did that to let them know why all the cars were on the street. When i had people over we were not loud nor were we partying late. An example of how I treated my neighbors, the last snow storm we had last winter I did 13 driveways with my John Deere. They were my neighbors who had gone to work and was not able to get their driveways. I did it because they were at work, the snow plow had gone by and the snow would have been frozen solid by the time they had gotten home. I did not do it for money, thanks or anything.

I did it because THAT was how I was raised!

I do the same thing when in Ohio for one of our neighbors. I have enough snow fighting equipment up there to do the whole neighborhood if needed. Down here I only have one plow and one 50" snowblower.

Nope..... it comes down to RIGHTS... and knowing what RIGHTS are.... My neighbors do lots of things that annoy me, yet I smart enough to know they are not infringing on my RIGHTS... my peace maybe, but NOT my rights. I am considerate of others, but I KNOW that if I am NOT considerate I would NOT be infringing on their RIGHTS....

How about THIS........ SHUT THE EFF UP ABOUT SOMEONE ELSE EXERCISING HIS RIGHTS AND NOT HARMING ANYONE..... Hold your bitchin UNTIL he actually infringes on someone elses RIGHTS....

I plow everyones driveways (12 or so, never counted) near my house with my tractor when we get more than a couple inches... have been doing it for years, never take any money for it either, I tell them I am happy I get to play with my tractor...

How many times does the following need to be said until it starts being comprehended by the anti-rights people around here??????

UNTIL someones ACTUAL RIGHTS ARE INFRINGED, shut the eff up about someone else exercising THEIR RIGHTS.....

Being "Considerate" of others INCLUDES allowing them to exercise THEIR RIGHTS in any way they choose to, as long as their doing so doesnt infringe on someone elses RIGHTS, even the times when YOU DONT LIKE IT...... Most of you commenting on this post are hypocrites!!! , you only want others to exercise their rights when you agree with how they do it, yet YOU would pitch a ***** if someone did the same to you...

How about this. We can discuss range safety without getting all riled up and whining about people who think that ranges should be constructed safely.

No one wants to infringe on this guy's rights at all. People just want his range to be set-up in a safe manner.

Rights certainly are a subject. But simply because someone is discussing range safety doesn't mean that they want to infringe on anyone's rights. Chill out.
