What a heathen. Its a wonder God doesn't wipe you off the face of this earth. You my friend are no different than the days of Noah or Sodom and Gomorrah and we know their fate. You keep chipping away maybe you'll get there.

Playing judge and jury and condemning someone for their actions on a message board isn't exactly going to change his mind on Christianity. I'd want no part of that version of Christianity either.

When an apple falls off the tree do we call it a peach? He's made it pretty obvious throughout the last 697 post in this discussion where he stands.God gives us the gift of discernment so we can know if we might be unequally yoked or not and that's not judging. We can inspect fruit and call it for what it is. Let's not forget that God is a God of wrath just as well as a God of love. Either direction he is just. I'm sorry but I don't believe in a watered down Christianity like a lot of these weak kneed Christians do this day and time. That's part of the reason that a lot of church's have lost their power and souls aren't getting saved. We need to recognize sin as sin and not sugar coat it. I'm just being honest. We've got to love his soul but we should hate his sin just as God hates his sin. That's the truth.

When it is effing up the society I live in, you damn right it's my business!

XD: I have been trying to stay out of these arguments but ever so often a statement is made that beggars questioning. I am asking this in all seriousness and not trying to start a peeing contest with you. Please tell me how religion is effing up your society. I live in the same society as you but the only ones I see trying to mess up society are those who reject religion and don't want anyone else to be religious. We all have our beliefs and, generally, I don't have any heartburn to those who would reject it. Religious people have caused considerable consternation with those who believe in abortion, same sex marriages and other acts which we consider to be wrong and an abomination before God. To them we are bigots, homophobes and other like appellations simply because we don't believe in their twisted way of life and do not want it imposed upon us. What is wrong with us trying to save the life of an innocent baby from abortion? Women say THEY have the right to choice about their bodies. With that I will agree however, there are two people involved in that decision....hers and that of the baby. Where is the baby's choice? Don't try to tell me the baby is not a living entity until birth. Operations are performed quite frequently on fetuses in the womb and are recognized as being alive and viable. To abort them is murder, plain and simple and we strenuously object to it and will try to save every baby we can. I have seen articles written of late asking about what age should post-birth babies be allowed to be "aborted?" Frighteningly, the age of five years was thought to be permissible to kill the child and call it "post-birth abortion." I don't care how one looks at that, it is MURDER plain and simple. Kill a toddler because it has become inconvenient to look after him or her? Really? Homosexuality has been beaten to death and acceptance forced on believers. I don't care how deviant those people care to be, just don't try to force it on me or my family. One of my granddaughters is home-schooling her kids now because of the deviant programs the public schools are pushing. She refuses to let the "system" indoctrinate her children with such lunacy and I agree with her. Schools aren't like they were when I attended. None of this nonsense was taught and school years were some of the happiest years of our lives. Not any more. I object to schools teaching how good it is for children to have two "dads" or two "moms" rather than the normal family unit. All of that trash is contrary to human nature and an abomination before the God they try to ignore. Just because we, the religious people, have standards that have been given to us by our Bible and try to live a decent and moral life according to God, how are we "effing" up your life? If you want to live an immoral or deviant life style that is fine with me. Just do not try to expose or force it upon those of us who don't agree. Don't try to force laws upon us that are trying to legitimize their deviancy. You, nosreme and I have shared several posts concerning our sides of the debate and I can understand your thoughts and I hope you can understand mine (ours). Could it be that we are all pushing too hard trying to win an argument that really isn't an argument at all? You, and others of like mind, do not believe in God. We do believe in God and try to live to serve Him. We try to live moral lives and that causes friction with those who live immorally. We will not let immorality be pushed on us without pushing back and that makes it our business also!

Oh gee, I wonder too....... Oh wait, I know......... gods don't exist.

But you know that, for there are thousands of gods you deny the existence of, right? Thus we are 99.99% in agreement, for you deny the existence of thousands of other gods, my list is only 1 longer.

I worship and follow the one true God. The great (I Am). Jehovah God.
You do follow your God though rather you realize it or not. In denying the one true God you honor satan whom is your father. The bible proclaims that satan is the God of this world. I'm glad I'm just a pilgrim here.

2 Corinthians 4:4King James Version (KJV)

4 In whom the god of this world (satan) hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

What exactly is watered down Christianity?

What exactly is watered down Christianity?

I don't know what Scotty's definition is but, to me, watered down Christianity is the people of today that will not stand up for their religion and just go with the flow rather than hurt someone's feelings. Preachers are preaching "feel good" sermons in order to not offend any one or step on their toes. The old "hellfire and damnation" preachers are a thing of the past. Religion has become a job, not a calling. Don't call sin a sin, leave others alone and let them think they are worshipping God while going along with the crowd. Go to church on Sunday, sing a few songs then go home. No more religion until next Sunday. Don't study the Bible for yourself, let someone else tell you what they think you need to be a good Christian, Jew or whatever. That is watered down religion.

It is all about truth and authority. Some speak the truth by the authority of the Word of God. Some do it for personal gain and leave things out (watered down).
We see this in the work force some work hard for their pay (truth) Others are slackers (watered down)

I am sorry to say you are so right OG. Folks have come to depend on and look to the nanny state as their new savior. I am amazed at the worship and gushing that goes on over this imPOTUS Well it looks like GruberCare is their new alter. Lord help them! 2 Chronicles 7:14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

I think pastors are turning away from preaching hellfire and brimstone sermons because they want to preach less about religion and more about the gospel. People want to be loved and that's what the gospel is all about, God's perfect love.

That's sort of the interpretation of water down Christian that I thought he probably meant. Prosperity gospels such as Joel Osteen don't do it for me and I hate to see that it does for others. There's hundreds of churches that claim to be Christian but imo aren't. That's why when people say America isn't a Christian nation I don't try and argue. They haven't been for a long time. There's a big difference in knowing God exists and actually knowing HIM and having a relationship with him. I'm with Ya, the lukewarm Christians are what scares me the most. Going with the flow is very dangerous.

Someone still needs to explain to me how my belief screws-up their life. It's not like someone is holding you down making you listen to scripture. You have free will. Just use it.

It is not "your" (singular) beliefs that screw up anyone's life, except perhaps your own or close family, but the "collective" beliefs of large numbers of people, that affects society as a whole, of which we are all part.

Religion should be like your wanker, it's fine to have it, it's fine to be proud of it, it's fine to play with it, but in the privacy of your own home. When you pull it out in public, and attempt to force it on anyone, then you have crossed the line.

And yes I do have a free will, and I do use it, but there is the reality of law that exist due to the hate taught by religion, or just the fallout from religion.

  • 13+ years of war, destroying our countries economy, thus our future, and ramping back up.
  • Teaching creationism in public schools, or charter schools supported by taxpayers, and in voucher (taxpayer money) supported private schools, as an alternative to factual science.
  • Discriminating against groups of people based solely on the hated taught by religion. Our history is ripe with this religious based hate, taking both war and the courts to overturn some, such as slavery, segregation, racially mixed marriages.
  • Attempts to make birth control illegal. Which by the way was banned by federal law until 1938
  • In the effort to prevent abortion, eliminating birth control, and even cancer screenings for women
  • Blue laws, stupid special rules for what you can and cannot buy on Sunday, yes they still exist.
  • Women are still second class citizens because of religion. Hospitals, insurance companies, pharmacies, and other health care entities discriminate against women by denying basic care – like birth control, emergency contraception, and abortion – in the name of religion.

#1 has doomed us all, the house of cards is collapsing, the question is just how long will it take. While most of the others have virtually no impact on my life, most do impact someone I know, and probably someone you know. And contrary to a good christians bias toward atheists, I do give a damn what happens to others.

Without the expression of both God's perfect love and God's perfect wrath the Gospel is incomplete. God is love and God is just and half a truth is a lie. It's interesting that Jesus preached twice as much on the subject of HELL than He did about Heaven. Even more interesting is that 1/3 of the Bible is Prophecy and one full book is Revelation. That's an enormous amount of hellfire and brimstone to ignore, but that's what the "pew fillers" of this present day APOSTATE church of LAODICEA pay the modern day preachers to ignore. Only when we have the COMPLETE Gospel can we see the futility of this life. God's wrath is not a pleasant topic of discussion. It ought to thoroughly frighten us to contemplate being on the receiving end of the wrath of the Almighty. But whether we want to think about it, enjoying thinking about it, or care to think about it is not the issue. God's wrath is part of His character and we do well to understand it and live righteously because of it. The words of Romans 1:18 will not fail. When God's wrath is revealed the big question is, will your manner of life cause you to receive it?

MARANATHA! :victory:

BCI hit the nail on the head. No atheist is going to persuade a real Christian that there is no God. But I've seen atheist become believers. God is in control. God loves us all (even non-believers). God is for us (not against us). Satan on the other hand hates people and only uses them to meet his evil needs. He is the great deceiver and uses atheist to further his worldly reign of terror. Atheist's have just been sucked in to his web of deceit, convinced that they are right. Poor saps.

Evil men do evil things...God is not evil. God is love! The followers of Satan will always lift up and churn the hateful things of this world. They live to cause division not unity. They are twister and never advocate love or peace. You will know them by their fruit.

sinful nature is always hostile to God....

Exactly...Evil men do evil things. Clearly not followers of Jesus Christ.

sinful nature is always hostile to God....

Hey..could they be the tweener species that no one seems to want to explain?

sinful nature is always hostile to God....
