So a gun free zone is any place where any individual is not allowed to carry a gun?

Then schools will always be gun free zones until the children are allowed to carry, as will all malls, all theaters, and every place else. Is that your agenda? Allow all children and adults to carry firearms everywhere so that there will be no gun free zones and thus eliminate all gun crime on the theory that criminals only commit gin crimes in gun free zones?

And people wonder how Bloomberg has been able to amass a following. He doesn't have to argue about gun issues, he just has to point the idiocy of arguments being posited.

It's time for the 2A community to speak smarter, not louder.

I guess smarter means that in any place where people might possibly be offended by the sight of a firearm we should simply not carry there. We should not carry in a business, school, church, bank, sports arena or movie theater, shopping mall, public library, park, government meeting, or any of a thousand other places, because someone MIGHT take issue with the idea of someone lawfully carrying their firearm, and in your opinion that is signing over our Second Amendment rights to Bloomberg. Is that what smarter means to you? Because, if you give in to the pressure from such people, YOU HAVE ALREADY SIGNED OVER YOUR RIGHTS TO BLOOMBERG, BRADY, MEDIA MATTERS AND ALL THE OTHER GUN GRABBERS OUT THERE WHO WANT TO KEEP YOU FROM CARRYING IN PUBLIC. You are doing EXACTLY what they want you to do. YOU have disarmed yourself. Not Bloomberg or any of the others out there. It is YOUR decision to allow such people to limit where you can legally carry your legally owned firearm. Doing what they want you to do isn't going to protect your rights.

You are implementing your own appeasement policy, and appeasement has NEVER protected anything.

How do you talk out your butt and in the same breath tell someone to be smarter? Prove to us that a military base isn't a gun free zone. Put a rifle on your shoulder and walk on base. I will even reimburse the government for the ammo they use.

It was not a gun free zone. the shooter didn't calculate the percentage of armed people. The shooter was familiar enough with the facility to know that there were armed guards on the premises, and he didn't give a damn.

Please, for the sake of advancing 2A rights stop with the silly gun free zone assertions. It just makes us look ignorant and adolescent. Like calling everything you disagree with a "Nazi".

Here we go again with the gun-free zone BS. It was not a gun free zone. That line of reasoning always has been a loser, laughed at by the anti-gunners because the stats show otherwise. Gun crimes are committed where the intended victims are located regardless of whether the place has heavily armed train security or armed wannabe Wyatt Earp's.

the arguments for allowing law abiding qualified citizens to own firearms for self-protection are not helped by positing such easily defeated arguments like the gun-free zone argument.

Maybe he should have said "It was a security/LEO-only-carry-zone." Would that have been correct?

I didn't get to watch Pierce Morgan last night on the Communist News Network (CNN) to hear if he was going to try and spin it into a gun issue. I'm sure he will.

Of course he did. He stated that the guy used "an AR15, the same killing machine used in (two other mass shootings)". But in all fairness, most of the MSM said the same thing.

The reason why there has been no screams, cries and knashing of teeth from the antis may be because his weapon was not one of those nasty black "assault weapons" and I understand he bought his weapon legally even passing a NICS check.

Probe launched - CERT team told to stand down!

It is being reported that a fully armed and ready Capitol Police CERT (Containment and Emergency Response Team) was on the scene ready to deploy in the first few minutes of the shooting. The supervisor on the scene reportedly requested their assistance, but when the supervisor radioed the watch commander for permission to deploy them, the WC told them to stand down.

The BBC first broke the story, and it has been picked up by US new outlets.

Capitol Police Officer Jim Konczos, who leads the officers' union, said the Cert police train for what are known as active shooter situations and are expert marksmen.

"Odds are it might have had a different outcome," he said of Monday's shooting and the decision to order the Cert unit to stand down. "It probably could have been neutralised."

This may very well be the reasoning behind the MSM playing up and praising the actions of the DC police chief.

There is no good reason for a PD to have a media consultants/press agents on staff other that to cover their collective butts when the SHTF and they are in the way of the blades.

As soon as the shooting was announced by the media false information came spewing out, with total disregard for the actual truth. This is their stock in trade, report something even if we don't know what we are talking about, it is our 1st amendment right to say/print whatever, the public deserve to know, they deserve the truth, oops that slipped out. :lol:
