Your absolutely right that's why I am reconsidering retiring down South. I don't like it here and can't wait to get out but, where to go is the question? South Carolina was always on my radar but as someone said northerners are infiltrating it. I am a northerner and am proud of where I am from but, lately I am embarrassed. Let's go Flyers love hockey and hopefully there will be a NHL franchise where I move but, not a must. Maybe the Predators who knows

Better idea - If you are receiving government assistance (welfare, housing, food stamps) you can't vote. It is an obvious conflict of interest. Get off the dole and get your vote back.

I assume that's because you believe these people would vote democrat/socialist? So a wealthy person should also be prohibited because it's a conflict of interest as well? They would vote capitalism? That's what we do in America. We vote our interest. WHen the economy is bad we have more people on the dole who will vote their interest. That's the price of living in a free society/democracy.

Remember, Andrew Cuomo as HUD secretary under Clinton tried to prohibit gun ownership by those living in public housing. He was unsuccessful. Consider the consequences of infringing any persons rights because he is poor, disabled or can't afford (gun) insurance. I think we should be required to show ID to vote. At least it's a start. But even that is met with a fight.

One thing I would add is that I am not talking about Social Security or Medicare since those were invested in, but those programs need a serious bit of management as well. The number of "disabled" people on Social Security has grown disproportionately, so there was probably a loophole written into the program to allow fraud to be easier, or those in charge of determining disability have been drinking the Kool-Aid. The reason the program is in jeopardy is not just too many baby-boomers retiring, it's too many people that didn't pay into the system that are taking out of it. I am not against helping those that can't help themselves, but I am against helping those who choose not to help themselves.

We should also address the abuse of the medical system. Emergency rooms cannot turn people away for fear of lawsuits. People go to the emergency room for the sniffles so they don't have to pay. I don't know how to fix it, but it is BROKEN. Dr. Ben Carson gave the President some ideas at the National Prayer Breakfast though. If you haven't seen the speech please watch!

Wow, you're all over the place. Lets define "entitlements" and "hand-outs". If I earn a military pension, pay into Social Security, or pay into Medicare, it is an entitlement. If I do not work and I take your tax dollar that is a hand-out.

As far as the rich and voting, we can easily fix that by addressing campaign finance. Contributing to the RNC, DNC or anyone else is bribery, and the more you contribute the more you expect in return. My fix would be to give every candidate for every election a limited amount of air-time commensurate to the size of the election. Include a debate or three. Anything else you can do on foot, door to door if you choose, or in local public venues. Don't give an incumbent the leverage of office with regards to the next election; they have a record to stand on which should be what determines whether they deserve re-election. If the CEO of GE wants to contribute, he can make signs. As far as capitalism, that is what makes us a great and prosperous country...what other option is there? Communism/Socialism/Fascism?

Last point, we already take rights away from those who do something to warrant it. Felons and those dishonorably discharged from the military are a couple of examples. What if we made a law today that said "from now on, if you commit a felony or violent crime you are no longer eligible to receive hand-outs" Might that reduce crime?

as for gun rights we have it pretty darned good here in FLA, it is usually quick and easy to get a concealed carry permit and you do not need any kind of permit to own or possess any guns. I will take what we have here over what you have in PA any day of the week.
you need to understand that FLA is a very large state that encompasses a lot of different political views. In south FLA you may as well be in the north east with all the retirees who have brought their liberal views with them, in the central parts things can swing either way and that is where the politicians are made or broken, here in NE FLA we are quite conservative except for the urban cesspools like jacksonville and out across the panhandle is solidly conservative except for the government worker filled areas around the capitol of tallahassee

Therefore, that's how my state infringes, just like FL infringes in some manners (you can't open carry in almost all avenues of your life), and every other state infringes besides VT.

But you missed my bigger point, we're all Pro 2A here and we should realize that our states have something wrong by infringing on our 2A rights and we should also stop continually have a pissing contest on whose is the best because it is ridiculous, since they are all wrong to some degree (except VT). And since they are all wrong to some degree, that's what makes it a real hassle to travel from state to state.

All I can say is I live in Texas. I carry daily and also hold a FFL. I read about northern states and it is like reading something from a different country. Americans- several it appears, seem to have forgotten what freedom and sovereignty is all about.

Yes. I believe you should be drug tested to get your check. But there are some people on welfare or SSI / Medicaid who are there because of reasons out of their control. A disabled young person who hasn't yet paid into the system should not be penalized by taking away his right to vote just because it's a handout. Plenty of legitimate disability out there.

My wife's family is from West Palm. I spend a lot of time there. Other than close friends and family, no one even knows I'm from NY.

Regarding the blue state / crime connection it seems to be true. My hometown in NYS was just named the ninth most dangerous city in America by the FBI. And of course they vote democrat/socialism/entitlements.

I think we vote for a fare shake. There is enough free education to get you to a college level you just want to have to go. I grew up in Philadelphia and the neighborhood public school you didn't go to but, I knew a girl that had no choice because that is where her parents sent her. she was an honor student and now is a paralegal so, before you give me most public schools have a bad learning environment it can be done. You just have to want it. I mean look at Dr. Carson. It's not about welfare or handouts or depriving anyone the right to live. It is for the ones who truly need it. It was meant to be an aide to help people get back on their feet and not an occupation. Their are people who need it permanently (vets, the disabled etc) but there are people just simply milking the system and that is what needs to go away.

what you say is all correct, but apparently you have never experienced what we are talking about, up until the mid 1970's NJ was a state with people who held more traditional/conservative values then all of a sudden NYC imploded and the great exodus of white moved to the suburbs. what we are complaining about is that these former city people brought their liberal views with them and they began to infest every facet of life with the style of liberalism that hastened the viability of living in NYC. the same could be said for the millions of people fleeing CA for NV, OR or even AZ, they bring with them the mindsets that like and allow the idiocy of liberalism to take root, not understanding that it was the sickness of liberalism that forced them from their beloved CA.
