You don't find Assault Weapon defined as section 30 of 18 USC 921 (a) was repealed. But here is the gist of it.

Thanks, I was actually aware of that. I was making a joke about the fact that from a military perspective there's no such animal as an assault weapon. As you pointed out correctly it's basically a made up term to describe some partilarly evil and dangerous guns.

My valid permit gives me the authorization to open carry where other citizens of my state who do not have a permit cannot. 822 doesn't address this among other flaws. I want to have the ability to choose. Why should I be forced by the Feds to carry concealed if I don't want to?

Real simple. If you disagree with the gun laws of another state, DONT GO THERE!

Obama MIGHT sign it IF he needed the votes next November. Remember he did sign the National Parks carry law, though it was attatched to a bill he really wanted which I think was a credit card or banking bill. The same thing can easily happen again.

You know, actually, not at all. Far more people get killed by cars than guns but any one eyed idiot gets a license, doesn't even have to be 18 years old in most places. I am in fact statistically more likely to get mowed down by a bad driver on my way to work than to get shot in a robbery. ;-)

So the comparison really isn't as absurd as it seems, both are dangerous items to handle and both have differing State laws on how to do it.
