I currently carry the Kel-tec PF-9.
In my early research for my first firearm purchase, I zeroed in on the Glock full-size 9mm's to start with a solid high capacity defensive pistol for the home. During this time I also asked one of my local shops about a good concealable 9mm & after showing me the usual average to higher-cost fair, he talked about a good, low-cost American-made weapon by a company called Kel-Tec.
The PF-9 he showed me looked to be very nicely concealable, & his impression was that it was a solidly functioning gun...especially for the money. I researched all I could about this pistol, getting pricing & impressions from all around.
By the time I finally had the money for my first purchase, the PF-9 was real hard to find (production lull or something). Weeks of looking & calling around led me nowhere. Then I found that my local Streicher's was selling off their Glock stock, & I happily lucked out when one of their customers who had the last G17 w/night sights on hold was a no call/no show. As the guy was running up the bill for the firearm (& whatnot) I asked if he knew of anyone locally who might have any Kel-tec PF-9's.
"We do!" I hadn't seen any in the case in my visits to the store. "You have one in stock?", I asked. "We've got two that just came in. Haven't had a chance to put 'em out yet." I had him bring them out & after finding a little rust on the barrel of one, I asked to see the other. It looked perfectly fine & the price, as it turns out, was better than I had been expecting.
The PF-9 has been great at the range, & it carries nicely in my Bianchi Professional 100 & my CrossBreed QwikClip - both IWB holsters. I find it to be a darn fine firearm for my first carry.
