What Happens to Us When We Die?

If you were in a boat in the middle of the ocean and it sank, it would be good to have a life preserver , no? It would be the thing that could save you. You would need something to save you, because you can't swim to safety. You may think you're swimming, but that is a limited endeavor. It won't last.
You will eventually be looking for someone to save you. A life saver or savior, so to speak.
The same thing goes if you're drowning in life. It is good to have a Savior (one that saves you).
Jesus Christ is the Savior of mankind.

When the ****** hits the fan shortly, there will be many that never believe, that will be looking for a Savior. But by then it will be too late. Why wait? The 'Life Preserver" are available now, he's FREE, and available in your locale.

The difference there is that we have evidence that life vests exist and save lives. The same can't be be said about a god.

When it starts, I'll be there. The only ownership I know of will belong to Luke. The only thing, if, and when, I disagree with your assertions, I can do so in a gentlemanly manner just as you have done in the past. I will not deliberately harass anyone for their comments but will try to debate with reasonable responses to whatever subject arises. I won't take offense at yours or others comments, like on here, and spew venomous comments just because I may not agree with what has been said. Gosh, I may happen to agree with you some times. I can do that but, it appears atheists can not muster enough self-control to do the same. I have told you and XD that I can understand your positions and generally ignore some comments that are made. To be deliberately insulting to God by calling Him names does grate with me and, as far as I am concerned, to do such is belittling to the person as well as an insult to God. I firmly believe that EVERYONE does believe in God but not everyone will acknowledge Him. The ones who continually curse God or deny Him seem to be doing so, not from disbelief, but an unconscious fear that He does exist and that there will be a day of reckoning. Some on here seem to demand proof that God exists, tangible proof with no question. Sorry, but they will wait a long time, He doesn't play games. You either accept Him or not. That is the individual's only option.
 
nosreme- let me sleep on that and see if it is clearer when I'm more alert. 12&16 hour shifts are mentally taxing.

If the SHTF, you look for a savior, I'm looking for food, water, ammo, shelter, etc...... you know stuff that actually exists and will be useful.

No God=No connection

Which, for me, would be like saying -
"Child, I do not see your father therefore he must not exist." Silly right? Obviously the child has a father or the child wouldn't exist.
 
I won't bother discussing heaven or hell or sin or Jesus with an Atheist. Why? It's not because I don't care, I do. But how can you expect a person to believe a man was born/died/resurrected to reconcile the created to the Creator, when the existence of the Creator is not accepted? Talk about putting the cart ahead of the horse.

Your reasoning is not that uncommon among believers. In fact it's the only reason churches exist today. It's where the whole term "preaching to the choir" came from. People, especially religious people who believe, like to be around their own kind. Much the same way gun people go to gun clubs and attend shooting matches. Like minds attract each other because they share a common interest. You don't have to convince anyone of your belief's. You don't have to sell what's already been sold. And I'm not saying or suggesting there is anything wrong with this.

When you're confronted by a non believer is when all the problems begin. Because all you've got to convince them is fear, not fact. And that's not going to get you anywhere. You wouldn't buy anything from a salesman who tried to scare you into buying it. You would be far more likely to purchase what he was selling if he convinced you with believable fact, that you really needed it. No one wants to be on the end of a losing argument. Non believers are hard to convince, not because they are stubborn, but because your side can't produce ANY solid fact to convince them. The burden of proof is on you, and you don't have any. At least not any that can be proven.

There are facts along with provable numbers that support how many people are saved by life jackets, or what the odds are of a modern weapon discharging with modern ammunition, or any of the other comparisons believers try to make to the whole God deal. All you guys have to offer up is fear, coupled with blind faith. That, along with a 2,000+ year old storybook. And it all comes with terrible odds. Not very convincing at all. So.......... It pretty much comes down to the fact if I were a believer, I wouldn't want to be the guy who goes door to door trying to sell it. Just ask the Jehovah Witnesses. The odds they'll get the front door slammed in their face, are a hell of a lot better than the Publishers Clearing House guy who wants to give you a dozen roses, and $7,000.00 a week for life.

I don't expect a god to play games. Wanting to see evidence of X in order to believe X is hardly playing a game.
 
I don't sell fear. The Christian message is Good News. The Good News is God loves you and wants you to have more than this life.
Atheists claim "I don't need God to be good." Thing is, we aren't good. Oh we can play and pretend for awhile if we really try but it doesn't last. Don't believe me? Try this- do just good for one month heck make it a week. Good luck with that.
 
Fact is it takes a great deal of faith to believe the human body and mind were created by accident. That the brain and nervous system just developed over time, from swirling wind and moisture, to be able to figure out ways to send information over thin air! Always working with anothers creation.

True. Folks get passionate. About all kinds of things. If a guy says a Suburu is the best...well I will not blast him but maybe drive one and see...everyone will not see the value.

If by most everyone you mean Atheists, I believe you exaggerate. But to the point, the Good News(reconciliation) means nothing to a person who doesn't believe in God. How could it? That is again putting the cart before the horse.

That brings up another thing. Not all non believers are hard core Atheists. Yet they're put in the same group all the time. Many want to believe, but just can't come to terms to accept it, based on what's being offered up to convince them. I don't want to be lumped into the same class of people who want crucifixes removed from water towers, or manger scenes taken down in front of city hall. Just because I'm having trouble accepting what's being offered in the way of facts, in order to believe.

Excellent point. Christians damage their belief system far more than they realize, with the distance they carry their beliefs. In short, they go way overboard. This turns people off in droves. And I'm not talking about the Westborough Baptist crowd of certified nut cases. A lot of these right to lifers go off the deep end. If you are trying to convince me about God, and all the supposed "good news" and "goodness" he comes with, you sure as hell won't do it by bombing an abortion clinic, or ripping into this countries military. Or by trying to block stem cell research. And in the process kill off the only chance some poor bastard in a wheelchair has to ever walk again. That's just plain DUMB. I'm not "pro abortion". But I'm not going to cheer on some moron who set charges of C-4, to blow up some clinic, along with some poor married woman in it, who got pregnant by way of rape.

If you guys want to convince people who are having trouble crossing over to your side, you won't do it with these type of silly, stupid antics. You have to accept if you yourself want to be accepted. Most people who call themselves "Christians" won't do it. They carry the hardline to the point it hurts their cause far more than it helps it. And then to make matters worse, they claim, "God instructed their actions", in some stupid, abstract way. Usually quoting some Bible passage to justify it. If you want to create more non believers, go blow up an abortion clinic. Then after you're caught, and a news crew sticks a microphone in your face, tell them, "Live by the sword, die by the sword". Yeah, that'll have em' pounding on the doors of your church.

Which actually puts you well ahead of many (most?) theists, that simply can't/won't grasp the fact that atheists know that heaven/hell and the rest of the players are all fictional.
