A TRUE STORY FROM... "THE HOUSTON HERALD" HOUSTON, TEXAS

Last Thursday night around midnight, a woman from Houston, Texas was arrested, jailed, and charged with manslaughter for shooting a man 6 times in the back as he was running away with her purse. The following Monday morning, the woman was called in front of the Arraignment Judge, sworn-in, and asked to explain her actions. The woman replied, "I was standing at the corner bus stop for about 15 minutes, waiting for the bus to take me home after work. I am a waitress at a local cafe. I was there alone, so I had my right hand on my pistol in my purse hanging on my left shoulder. All of a sudden I was spun around hard to my left. As I caught my balance, I saw a man running away with my purse. I looked down at my right hand and saw that my fingers were wrapped tightly around my pistol. The next thing I remember is saying out loud, "No Way Punk! You're not stealing my pay check and tips." I raised my right hand, pointed my pistol at the man running away from me with my purse, and started squeezing the trigger of my pistol! When asked by the arraignment judge, "Why did you shoot the man 6 times? The woman replied under oath, "Because, when I pulled the trigger the 7th time, it only went click." The woman was acquitted of all charges. She was back at work the next day!

This reminds me of a story I heard somewhere....

An elderly Texas woman was pulled over by a motorcycle cop for failing to come to a complete stop at a stop sign.
The officer approached her and asked for her drivers license and proof of insurance.
The old lady complied and she also advised the officer that she had a concealed handgun license and was armed.
The officer was a bit surprised and then he asked her; "Where do you keep your firearm ma'am?"
The grandmother responded as she chuckled a bit; "Firearm? Not just a firearm officer...FireARMS." as she chuckled a bit more.
Perplexed, the officer then asked; "Well how many firearms are you carrying exactly?"
The senior citizen replied; "Three Sidearms...My Ruger LCR is in my purse, My Glock 26 is in my IWB Holster at my 4 o'clock position & My Smith & Wesson 586 is in my glovebox ".
Bewildered, the officer then asked "Three Firearms!? What are you afraid of ma'am??"
The Texas Grandmother replied matter of factly; "Absolutely Nothing."

I Love the Great State of Texas! =-)

Folks,

This isn't true. Please check before you call something a true story.

snopes.com: Mugger Shot Six Times

Well if you read the snopes article, it isn't hard to shoot holes ( pun intended ) in the Origins part. The snopes author says that there is no "arraignment judge". She needs to do a little research.
Texas Code of Criminal Procedure -Art. 26.01. ARRAIGNMENT. In all felony
cases, after indictment, and all misdemeanor cases punishable by
imprisonment, there shall be an arraignment.

Acts 1965, 59th Leg., p. 317, ch. 722, Sec. 1, eff. Jan. 1, 1966.
It would be heard by a judge.
