Springfield Armory XDS

Hopefully my Crimson trace laser will be delivered on time to team up with my debuting unveiling at the range; Way to go Congress for not passing insanity laws today!!!!!

Well; after all this waiting; after all this debating; after all this frustrating, I finally have my hands on my XDS 45 compact; and now I have to sit and wait because I had surgery on my wrist and cannot go to the range for another S I X weeks; Who can feel my pain???????
Get some help loading & shoot it with the other hand. I alway shoot with both hands. May come a time when you'll need to.
Good practice/ training.
I have one of these, & unless you're wimpy, should have no problem shooting it one handed.

Thanks for the advice "Missoak" I do practice using both hands as well as situational and speed shooting; I mostly use my 9mm for that since it has clips that hold 16 rounds;
I go through three of those clips with rapid fire situations using both hands and around corner situations.

My post was just to express my happiness at finally getting my paws on the XDS. I also have a new 1911 that I purchased two months ago that I was not able to get to the range with.
Soon!!!!!

Man, I do feel your pain. I just bought a 38 revolver, & I can't get any ammo for it.
I mentioned this to a few of my range buddies a year ago; If the government wanted to silence our guns, they will find a way to take away our ammunition!
Planning has helped some of us, even though temporarily!
always save some for your everyday carry!!!!!

Good attitude about the wait time on the XDS, also make sure you won't have to wait for gear. I was surprised to find my XDS and am pleased to say it's more than I ever expected with 300 flawless rounds of various ammo types through it. But I'm waiting for 7 round mags and my favorite Mitch Rosen holster for carry. I'm not complaining, just want be sure you think ahead where I didn't, and it will be worth the wait.

I am one of those people that plan ahead; The day I was able to place the order for the XDS; I also ordered the Crimson Trace laser to go with it, and waiting for the holster that would accommodate the XDS and laser to come back in stock; In the mean time I am using the included paddle holster.

Just picked up my XDs Sat. Have not had a chance to shoot since it yet due to weather in central Or. No shortage of XDs's here in Bend or Redmond and no price gouging like you see on the net. With 9mm coming out 45 should be more avaiabke I would think.

I am surprised that no one has written about the recall on the Springfield Armory XDS; certain serial numbers. (You can check the Springfield site for the actual recall info) Mine was one of the ones that had to be sent back.
Their latest update stated that they are working on correcting the issue; even though they do not have the final correction they were proactive in recalling the guns. So glad that I did not fire mine after receiving it. I hope they come up with a solution in a timely manner, as I would like to prove the gun before making it part of my every day carry duo.

As much as I hate being without mine. I decided to just chill & let SA do it's work.
I'm confident they will do the right thing, & when this is all over, we will all be happy.
It takes alot of engineering to design a gun. Somebody missed a flaw in the design,
so it only makes sense it will take some time to come up with a solution.

There are at least two threads dealing with the XD-S recall, one of which I started.

I am glad they were proactive in dealing with it, which shows us that they are honorable in the whole scenario. I also just read a post that someone else started a thread about the XDS recall, so I will yield to them and discontinue posting about it in this thread.

All XDs were recalled. There are a few idiots that continue to carry them.

I bought my XFS. based on the performance of my other XD pistols. I loved the way it shoots, the size and weight.

I did not like the fact you could rack and chamber a round without resetting the trigger or cocking the striker. I suspect this will be remedied with the upgrade. I'm really looking forward to getting my XDS back, with upgrades.

I don't believe that all XDS were recalled; They listed certain Serial numbers that were involved in the recall;
Anyway, the testing is over per Springfield's post today, they will receive the parts next week and start shipping out the recalled guns soon on a first in first out basis.

They were all recalled, they are all the same design. Yes, the listed serial numbers, from the very first one shipped, to the very last one shipped before the problem was discovered. They do that so that new guns, with the upgrade installed will be outside of the recall range.

On the very active XD board, while many have said they will not send their XDS back (stupid), no one has said that their XDS is outside of the serial number range on the recall, and yes that question has been asked.

They have begun shipping!

They began shipping firearms back today!!!

Springfield 3.3 XD-S™ 9mm pistols - serial numbers between XS900000 and XS938700
Springfield 3.3 XD-S™ .45ACP pistols - serial numbers between XS500000 and XS686300

We are pleased to announce that the process of upgrading XD-S™ pistols has begun, and we will start shipping TODAY on a first-received/first-upgraded basis.

In our last update, we reported that upgraded pistols would start shipping sometime next week. But our team has been working around the clock and we are thrilled to start shipping today.

We have greatly increased our staff to get upgraded pistols back to customers quickly, and we are committed to achieving the fastest turnaround times possible. For now, we are unable to provide specific return shipping date ranges, but we do expect to share more information next Friday after we've had a full week to gauge how efficiently we will be able to complete this process.

When upgrades are finished on individual firearms, customers will receive a shipping notice and tracking information at the e-mail address they provided for the XD-S™ recall. And as a token of our appreciation for our customers' patience and support, we will also be enclosing an XD-S™ extended magazine with X-tension sleeve with each pistol we return.

As we reported last week, our engineers have redesigned the grip safety and created more positive engagement between the sear and striker on the upgraded XD-S™ pistols. Our solution delivers the advantages of a smoother and more consistent trigger feel with just a slightly increased trigger pull. We chose this option based on the two most important attributes to self-defense firearm owners - safety and reliability - and we are confident that our customers will be extremely pleased with their upgraded pistols.

We want to again express our deep gratitude to all of our valued customers for their loyalty to Springfield Armory®.
