Get some help loading & shoot it with the other hand. I alway shoot with both hands. May come a time when you'll need to.Well; after all this waiting; after all this debating; after all this frustrating, I finally have my hands on my XDS 45 compact; and now I have to sit and wait because I had surgery on my wrist and cannot go to the range for another S I X weeks; Who can feel my pain???????
I mentioned this to a few of my range buddies a year ago; If the government wanted to silence our guns, they will find a way to take away our ammunition!Man, I do feel your pain. I just bought a 38 revolver, & I can't get any ammo for it.
Good attitude about the wait time on the XDS, also make sure you won't have to wait for gear. I was surprised to find my XDS and am pleased to say it's more than I ever expected with 300 flawless rounds of various ammo types through it. But I'm waiting for 7 round mags and my favorite Mitch Rosen holster for carry. I'm not complaining, just want be sure you think ahead where I didn't, and it will be worth the wait.

I am surprised that no one has written about the recall on the Springfield Armory XDS; certain serial numbers. (You can check the Springfield site for the actual recall info) Mine was one of the ones that had to be sent back.
Their latest update stated that they are working on correcting the issue; even though they do not have the final correction they were proactive in recalling the guns. So glad that I did not fire mine after receiving it. I hope they come up with a solution in a timely manner, as I would like to prove the gun before making it part of my every day carry duo.

All XDs were recalled. There are a few idiots that continue to carry them.
I bought my XFS. based on the performance of my other XD pistols. I loved the way it shoots, the size and weight.
I did not like the fact you could rack and chamber a round without resetting the trigger or cocking the striker. I suspect this will be remedied with the upgrade. I'm really looking forward to getting my XDS back, with upgrades.

I don't believe that all XDS were recalled; They listed certain Serial numbers that were involved in the recall;
Anyway, the testing is over per Springfield's post today, they will receive the parts next week and start shipping out the recalled guns soon on a first in first out basis.
They began shipping firearms back today!!!Springfield 3.3 XD-S™ 9mm pistols - serial numbers between XS900000 and XS938700
Springfield 3.3 XD-S™ .45ACP pistols - serial numbers between XS500000 and XS686300
We are pleased to announce that the process of upgrading XD-S™ pistols has begun, and we will start shipping TODAY on a first-received/first-upgraded basis.
In our last update, we reported that upgraded pistols would start shipping sometime next week. But our team has been working around the clock and we are thrilled to start shipping today.
We have greatly increased our staff to get upgraded pistols back to customers quickly, and we are committed to achieving the fastest turnaround times possible. For now, we are unable to provide specific return shipping date ranges, but we do expect to share more information next Friday after we've had a full week to gauge how efficiently we will be able to complete this process.
When upgrades are finished on individual firearms, customers will receive a shipping notice and tracking information at the e-mail address they provided for the XD-S™ recall. And as a token of our appreciation for our customers' patience and support, we will also be enclosing an XD-S™ extended magazine with X-tension sleeve with each pistol we return.
As we reported last week, our engineers have redesigned the grip safety and created more positive engagement between the sear and striker on the upgraded XD-S™ pistols. Our solution delivers the advantages of a smoother and more consistent trigger feel with just a slightly increased trigger pull. We chose this option based on the two most important attributes to self-defense firearm owners - safety and reliability - and we are confident that our customers will be extremely pleased with their upgraded pistols.
We want to again express our deep gratitude to all of our valued customers for their loyalty to Springfield Armory®.
