Recognizing THREATS

Lapeer county has this article on their site dealing with cpls. Nowhere on it does it have an author much less a "copyright". I will make this clear, i am not defending the op's other threads where there may have been an infringement. This one is in fact reposting useful information.
Also, i find comparing a physical property to an idea or written thought completely redicilous. This would be similar to saying person A has a paper airplane and person B has an f-16 and because they were both constructed by someone, they perform the same functions. With all of the literary works throughout the world, i am CERTAIN that it would be nearly impossible to write an idea that has not been documented in some way.
Again, i am in no way defending the op's other threads and realize that not saying either lapeer county or recieved in an email may have been a "last straw", but technically because of a lack of copyright from the original "article" that i saw there is nothing wrong here.

Cheers

It has nothing to do with the function of a thing but everything to do with the ownership of a thing.

In other words... do not use my paper airplane... or my F-16... without my permission because I own them. (If I did own them.)

And it would be the responsibility of the person posting an article to find out if there is a copyright or not... regardless of where they found it or who sent it to them......... before "using" it without permission in an internet post.

I agree with you. The source should have been found for peace of mind for all. I also agree with saying point blank "permission of use" rather than beating around the bush comparing apples to oranges. They wont do that in court with a copyright case.

The article may not have said anything about "Copyright". But, I would almost bet you that if you scrolled to the bottom of the Homepage you'd see something like I posted.

Copyright © 2012. All Rights Reserved

At least, that's what I have posted letting people know that anything on my site is "Copyrighted" & private property.

The rub comes when I see my material on another site 1,000's of miles away. For me, there really is no easy, effective way combat infringement. (However, plagiarize a big news outlet & you could be in a world of hurt!)
