pre-ban stuff???

Now that there is no such thing as pre-ban Grandfathering so to speak...Will it be legal for local gun shops to take trades on this stuff...I was talking to someone at the range that has a pre-ban Baretta 15 rnd. Is he now forced to sell it out of state now that even purchasing a 10 rnd mag is illegal? Or can a local shop buy it? From what I understand if it over 10 rds. the 7 round load thing doesn't apply...correct?

Based on what I have read and heard, he will need to sell out of state! Everyone is scrambling to try to figure out what is in the law. As it was written in the dark of night and very few people had a chance to read it, there are many inconsistencies/contradictions. Apparently there are even requirements that you must inform the state police as to how the banned item was disposed of although nobody knows any details. There are already rumors that gun dealers have been told by the state police that they can not sell ammo until the new system is established to perform a so called background check and record the DETAILS of the transaction. VERY draconian and VERY screwed up!

"Starting April 15, 2013, only magazines that contain 7 rounds or less will be sold in New York, including permanently modified magazines."

If you have a 10 rounder?
You can permanently modify the magazine so that it holds no more than ten rounds, responsibly discard it, or sell it to a dealer or an out of state purchaser by January 15, 2014.

So according to the State of Bloomberg. You can still buy 10 round mags up till April 15th, but have up to Jan. 15th to get rid of them! or

"Starting on April 15, 2013, you are limited to putting in seven rounds, unless you are at an incorporated firing range or competition recognized by the National Rifle Association or International Handgun Metallic Silhouette Association, in which case the limit is ten."

Where did you see April 15th? Try buying a 10 round mag in NY, they will only sell to Law Enforcement. Can't even buy on the internet, your order will be rejected unless you find a clueless mom & pop outfit!! Gun manufactures will not ship guns to NY that have 10 round mag! We are now behind the "Iron Curtain"!! "Empire State" is gone, now "Iron Curtain"!!

The Governor (Bloomberg's personal assistant) created a faq on the new law.

The news stated that some gun stores upstate just closed down (temporarily) because they don't know what they can or can not sell anymore.

No one in NYS can buy the 1994 pre-ban mags from you. Not even a store. You can purchase new 10 round mags until April 1st. Gander Mountain is still selling them as of tonight.
