Please read and act - feinsteins Proposed Gun Ban

I admit I dont watch much "main stream news" - most of the news I read I get from online sources - generally cooler heads have prevailed and more facts are put into print then said on air by talking idiots.

So I might have missed the notification to "stay out of Detroit" (I live 150ish miles away, but have family that live closer)

Enter At Your Own Risk: Police Union Says ?War-Like? Detroit Is Unsafe For Visitors « CBS Detroit

ok so basically - I give up my rights to own guns - with promises that government will supposedly and magically have more police to help should I call 911? errr dont think so in Detroit ..

ok kinda lost my train of thought a second but yeh - while I will take the advice to stay out of detroit (and most of flint for that matter) I refuse to go unarmed even if society at large is pure in thought and actions.. Only takes 1 criminal minded retard with a lack of morality as some call it, to upset the day.

So yeh I think all these moron senators who have a healthy income, armed guards and send kids to "private schools - that have armed guards" trying to tell poor citizen me how I should live? is very objectionable on my part.. Hell if I was rich im sure they wouldn't care if I owned guns and such so long as I was in their "inner circle of friends"..

Not saying all are bad, I'm sure a few are decent enough people with honest values and such - not that I have met one yet.. probably never will because I'm a "gun owner" and proud of it.. :P

The nice thing in Michigan is that state law pre-empts local ordinances, so there is no way for Detroit to keep you from carrying. No need to go into Detroit unarmed.

That's why Obama will rely instead on an executive order instructing the BATF and DOJ to institute their own rules. The public fight has one goal in mind - to show the world that firearms owners are crazed fanatics in order to justify the "necessity" of resorting to an EO to accomplish what the American people are supposedly crying out for. This is a psy-op, a propaganda campaign. You accomplish this by putting out a bill so extensive that it guarantees its failure, then you go to the American people, shed a few crocodile tears, and sadly explain why you had to do an end run around the legislative branch in order to make the public safe from a few loonies. Obama has pledged publicly to use ALL of the resources at his disposal to make this happen; that includes the unConstitutional executive order, which has become a means of propagating fiat law.

An executive order CAN be overturned by Congress, so don't throw your hands up in defeat before the battle has even started. Write your senators and congressmen to let them know you not only want them to absolutely reject this utterly abhorrent piece of legislation, but you want them to take ACTIVE steps to protect your 2nd Amendment rights from infringement.

Senator Hutchinson and her staff ust have a lot of time on their hands. I had a response from them waiting for me when I woke up this morning. That is rare. Normally I do not get a form email back from her office for a week or two. Guess that is what happens when you are on your final days in office.... Here was her response:
Dear Friend:
Thank you for contacting me regarding gun control legislation. I welcome your thoughts and comments on this issue.
While we all support the strongest measures to ensure that guns do not end up in the wrong hands, I believe that one of the most powerful deterrents we have is the consistent, full enforcement of the numerous laws that already address many aspects of the problem. For instance, there are more than a dozen laws at the state and federal level that deal with the use, carrying, ownership, or trafficking of guns, and we must prosecute without qualification those who violate these laws.
Rather than usurping the rights of law-abiding citizens, I believe we should vigorously prosecute those who use guns to commit crimes. I have worked to enact federal anti-crime legislation that imposes tough minimum sentences on those convicted of using firearms to commit crimes, prevents early parole for violent criminals, and provides federal funds to build new prisons and fund local law enforcement. I will continue to support legislation that fights crime and upholds our Second Amendment rights.
On June 26, 2008, the Supreme Court upheld the individual right to keep and bear arms in District of Columbia v. Heller. I submitted an amicus brief to the Court in support of affirming the District of Columbia's gun ban as unconstitutional, and was joined by 55 Senators, 250 House members, and the Vice President of the United States. This historic decision will affect gun laws throughout the country that try to unjustly undermine our rights under the Second Amendment.

I appreciate hearing from you, and I hope that you will not hesitate to keep in touch on any issue of concern to you.

Typical form letter, but, a start is a start.

A new gun ban plan is devised daily! Most go unheard of until tragedy, then the media blows it up and gun makers profit hugely. Then after a bit it does down again. It's a vicious cycle! The scare of AR15 ban caused my LGS to sell the 6 he had priced at $1400+ in 3 hours. Now there back ordered!!! I don't believe it's a conspiracy, though it is interesting.

This may not be the Wild West anymore, but if they take guns it may be!

If anyone from the government tries to remove our rights as guaranteed under the Constitution, it is a conspiracy in my book!

That's not necessarily true. It depends on what authority the EO is exercising that determines if Congress has the ability to intervene or not. If it is exercising an authority granted to the executive under the Constitution, Congress does not have the power to overturn it. However, if the EO is exercising authority given to the president under a law passed by Congress, then the Congress can intervene. It just depends on the wording mostly. But with the democrats controlling the Senate, I don't see Congress acting to reign in Obama should he decide to got that route. More likely it would go through the court system up to the Supreme Court as it did in 1952 with an EO that Truman issued. The question is, should it happen that way, how much damage can Obama do while we wait for the courts to act?

We need to support second amendment advocacy organizations. Only through unity and monetary support can we fight such a serious threat to our liberty. Politicians don't react to reasoned or moral arguments, They react only to votes and money. We either fight the enemies of liberty now through groups like the NRA and GOA or later in a more literal and less pleasant way.

Here is what I have been doing and encouraging like-minded folks to do. Send a simple note of encouragement/support and a one-dollar bill to organizations or companies under attack.
If folks on this forum contributed just one dollar or five dollars, it would certainly add up.
I have spread the word to friends, family and others via social media of the issues that I feel are important and to act accordingly.
I have no idea if anyone this past year has followed my lead but I did put my two cents worth in.

Absolutely correct! Obama's tyrannical executive order pencil is being sharpened as we speak. We are fools if we think this administration is going to allow due process with the White House's dictatorial occupant.

Does nobody remember the words, "under the radar"?
