opinions on carry

I really would like to carry a Taurus Public defender...anyone who has or does, I would appreciate the pros and cons...thanks

I looked at one in the gun shop ... I'd say a .38 would be good enough .... That gun is huge when you need to pocket carry you won't be able to ...even the lighter .357s feel heavy

I have never understood the fascination with this gun. The 000 buck is 5 - 30 cal rounds and thats ok but birdshot is not advised for self defense. Slugs and 45 cals well just carry a 45 . For the weight and size can't see anything more than a nightstand gun. Great idea gun and it has it's place I just prefer getting proficent with the ones I have with me everywhere.

I'm no expert by any means. However, that thing looks more like a novelty rather than a serious contender for a self defense firearm. Strongly recommend you do more research before choosing it for daily carry.

If you are able to easily conceal such a large and wide firearm as the Public Defender, why limit yourself to a 6-shot firearm? You can easily get a semi-automatic that is smaller and can carry a lot more rounds than the Defender.

If you are going to open carry, I would have the same objections that it is smaller (won't weigh you down as much) and a semi-automatic has more rounds.

These are novelty guns (i.e. a fad) that do 2 things.....neither of them particularly well. In the end what you have is a large, relatively heavy pistol that's not particulary suited for concealed carry and isn't very good for self defense when compared to other pistols.

If you want to have fun shooting pumpkins and plastic water jugs then by all means - pick one up. If you spend a lot of time out on the farm or ranch and have to deal with poisonous snakes and assorted varmints then this is the gun for you. If you want to carry something concealed for defense against 2-legged threats....there are about a gazillion better pistols to choose from.
