Yes, like eagleeyes, I take out the mag and put another on in to fill the spot of the one in the chamber, so I am maxed out. Why carry if you aren't ready? You might as well leave the gun in the safe at home. As a child, I grew up in a home where there was always two loaded pistols, one in my Dads bedroom and one by the cash register (My Dad had a Hardware store and we lived above it). I was taught that all guns are loaded, and to never put my finger inside of the trigger guard or to ever point one at anything I wasn't planning to shoot. My Dad taught me how to check the gun to see if it was loaded, how to load and unload it, and how the safety functioned. He also made it very clear to and my Sisters that if we ever touched it, for any reason other than self defense, we would suffer his consequences. All long guns were kept unloaded and ammo stored separately close by in the closet with the long guns. We had no gun safe then and hadn't ever heard of one. His showing us how to handle, clean and letting us shoot it, while under his supervision, which took all the curiosity out of a gun being in the house. I am 66 years old, how did I ever make it, with no child seats, no seat belts, no air bags, no safety caps on Medicine bottles etc. You can't fix stupid.
