Ms. Bellisle,
I read with great interest the subject RGJ.com article.
I've put a Google Alert on future such articles and appreciate your efforts to cover this issue.
As a law-abiding CCW permit holder, I've been dismayed at previous attempts to clean up the Nevada CCW laws, especially the one regarding adding a semi-automatic pistol to an existing permit.
The entire process is downright silly and indicates that the legislature is truly ignorant of the facts surrounding pistols. The folks who testified obviously agree. However, we (CCW permit holders) have seen similar measures rejected past years by the legislative body.
Given that the Nevada Attorneys for Criminal Justice managed to throw a monkey wrench into what was expected to be a positive vote, I firmly expect the measure to be denied again this year. I hope I'm mistaken, but the history of the committee has shown that they will look for any excuse to continue the present process.
BACKGROUND INFO: Just last week, I purchased a new semi-automatic pistol for concealed carry. It took two days and over $50 to "wiggle" through the process of adding it to my permit. Had I purchased a revolver, there would have been no such requirement as my permit clearly states that, "All Revolvers (are) Allowed". Pretty silly...Huh?
Respectfully,
Without a doubt the idiots in Carson City are headed exactly where they've gone before.
