Nevada Do I need permit from that state

I currently live in California. Moving to Henderson, Nevada mid September. I currently have a non-resident Concealed Carry Permit from both AZ and UT. As a resident of Caifornia I know I can carry in Nevada, but when I become a resident of Nevada, will I be required to then get a resident permit for Nevada or would my non resident permits still cover me for that state? I ask because I think of this as a drivers license. I have one for CA that is fine for NV, but when I move to NV I have to get a NV drivers license. I just want to make sure I stay legal!

Thanks,

John:fie:

I can't say if your sure if your AZ non resident permit will allow you to carry once you are an NV resident. I'd get your NV permit as soon as you can once you get here and change the address on your AZ and UT permits as soon as you can.

Thanks HoJo .... my thoughts exactly. Clark County appears to be a little more restrictive then most of the state. But found a place to take the training and will get it done.

You'd have to check state regs., but I moved to VA from CA and have a AZ CCW. I also teach CCW & as far as I know as long as the state you move to honors the one (AZ is Honored by NV) you have yr permit in and the permit is current you should be ok. But again check with what ever entity issues CCW's in NV. Should be able to do it on line through google search/state of NV lic.

Nevada honoring AZ CCW

Thanks Bob, I have check on-line and can not find the answer. When I get to NV I'll call them up and double check with the LVPD. Clark County has some laws just for that county.

The only law in Clark Co. that is different from the rest of the state that I am aware of is handguns have to be registered. I understand the Henderson PD is pretty good when registering but you have to live in Henderson. Any Clark Co. resident can go to a Metro substation to register. Check out this link.

Nevada Revised Statute seems pretty clear:

NRS: CHAPTER 202 - CRIMES AGAINST PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY

NRS 202.3688 Circumstances in which holder of permit issued by another state may carry concealed firearm in this State; holder of permit issued by another state subject to same restrictions and requirements as holder of permit issued in this State. 1. Except as otherwise provided in subsection 2, a person who possesses a permit to carry a concealed firearm that was issued by a state included in the list prepared pursuant to Link Removed may carry a concealed firearm in this State in accordance with the requirements set forth in Link Removed to Link Removed, inclusive.
2. A person who possesses a permit to carry a concealed firearm that was issued by a state included in the list prepared pursuant to Link Removed may not carry a concealed firearm in this State if the person:
(a) Becomes a resident of this State; and
(b) Has not been issued a permit from the sheriff of the county in which he or she resides within 60 days after becoming a resident of this State.
3. A person who carries a concealed firearm pursuant to this section is subject to the same legal restrictions and requirements imposed upon a person who has been issued a permit by a sheriff in this State.

You get 60 days to get your Nevada permit.

Thanks again ... sounds good about Henderson, that is where I will be living.

NavyLCDR .... Thank you very much! I have to agree pretty clear to me. So I'll make sure that I get it taken care of within the 60 days!

Get it done as soon as you get here. I got mine in under 60 days but they've been known to take the full 120 they're allowed.

These days it is taking almost 120 days to get a permit in Clark County. LVMPD says that is because the FBI is backed up with background checks.
