Negligent Discharge At Firing Range

A perfect example of why you DO NOT manually walk a hammer forward on any firearm and why you must be extra careful to ensure you do not have your finger in the trigger guard when you pull the hammer back.

Really?

So let's say you're target shooting with a DA/SA revolver using single action only. Let's also say that there's a problem... The lights go out on an indoor range, someone walks forward of the firing line, etc. Your gun is cocked and you have to make it safe. Now.

How, pray tell, do you safe your gun without walking the hammer forward?

Hint - There is a safe way to do it on the vast majority of guns in the hands of shooters today.

Yea it's simple, just lock the slide back. Works every time.

SLIDE! Show me a revolver with a slide. To de-cock a revolver you must ride the hammer forward while releasing the pressure on the trigger. If the hammer slips the trigger will ride forward and stop the revolver from firing. He cocked the revolver and while in the ready position he pulled the trigger. This shows why you must not put your finger on the trigger until ready to fire the firearm. He's using a scoped revolver that probably has a trigger job done to it. Just a little pressure will cause it to go off.
