Oh boy! See here in the United States of America, we call them "Cops" or "Law-enforcement". Never "Constables".
Things operate differently here Piers than they do in England.
Another thing.... Rights are not voted on, especially MY rights!
We do not live in a Democracy, sorry to bust your bubble.
We here in the US live in a Constitutional Republic!
See, when we left England and then beat the tar out of you, we devised our own form of Government.
In our Government, men are free to chose how they want to live their life. We are born with inalienable rights, granted by GOD, not some POS's in DC.
I am not about to bend at the knee to some ignorant buffoon and "barter" for what I already own.
There are two kinds of "gun owners" here. Those who want to play nice and accept the crumbs that fall from the Governments table and then there are the others.
Those of us who stand by our convictions. Those of us who are willing to do what ever it might take, not for crumbs but for what is already, rightfully ours.
I offer nothing to the antis. They will get nothing from me, period.
Mark, you go ahead and enjoy your crumbs though. Me? I'm fighting for my seat at the table.

I suspect you might be referring to MarkPA's post above that is a wall of text.

The following is a comment not directed at any individual or group of individuals...

I have noticed that some folks will try to bury the conversation by presenting several "talking points" or "argument points" in their arguments (whether online or in real life) all at the same time hoping that folks just won't take the time to respond to them all. That way some of the BS they present will slide into the consciousness of the person reading/listening. And if anyone does take the time to respond to each "point" the very next response will be... yet another wall of text or lengthy run on pontification. It is a very dishonorable and disingenuous tactic borne of the knowledge that if each "point" were to be taken one at a time their argument would be shown to be crap and it would fall flat on it's face.
