Marlin 336?

My neighbor last night gave me a Marlin 336 older man said he's had it for a few decades and just gave it to me. As far as the rifle is concerned its in good condition. My questions are where do you find the serial number on these firearms and where would the best place be to get a wood stock set from? It is missing the buttstock. Thank you!

Early guns serial numbers are located on the bottom tang under the lever. Later the serial number was moved to the top tang behind the hammer.

E-gunparts.com (Numrich) has lots of parts. Try a google search. I don't know, but if he had it long enough Marlin may not of had serial numbers. I don't have my blue book of gun values on me to help you out more.

My Marlin has 336RC as the model. Does anyone know what the RC stands for?
