I just spent two hours sending 22 emails and making 22 phone calls here in NY. Add that to the 40 emails and letters over the past week. I even held for a live person at Gov. Cuomos office instead of leaving voicemail. I spoke to assistants all of the time but they were very friendly. I usually asked their name if they didn't give it. I also joked about them probably wanting to throw the phones out of the window by now. All of this broke the ice and they became more human instead of just a robotic phone answerer. I told very briefly (the little script circulating around on other posts) why I was oppossed to any more laws and regulations. They all took my name, address or zip code, and phone number. They were all pleasant and receptive and thanked me for voicing my opinion. Only one guy (from Senator Kruegers office) started discussing their stance on things. He said they were against "assault weapons" but were not hurting the 2nd Amendment nor law abiding owners. I started to get into a further discussion with him but decided it wouldn't do any good and I should get off the phone before I said something that would make him not want to count my call. If we all do the same it would be a step for our cause. Please, make those calls and send those emails, even if you think it will do no good. Nothing can be accomplished if we do nothing.
