I'm relatively new to mag springs but I can tell you the spring steel springs in cryo regulators can operate compressed for 20 years. Usually a failure, due to poor manufacturing practices or poor material, will rear its ugly head very soon after purchase. If you have had good luck with a certain mag that luck will probably last longer than you do.
