IWB Retention for Sub Compacts?

I just purchased a XD40 subcompact, and interested in getting a IWB, but am a little concerned with the weapon popping out since there doesn't appear to be thumb straps on most of these. It looks like in most IWB holsters less than 1/2 of my weapon would be in the holster with most of the weight of the loaded pistol outside. Just a little concerned that i would have my gun skidding across the concrte if I stumpled.

I currently have Serpa's for this gun and another, and love them, but would rather have a IWB.
 
I carry my Springfiled Xdm 9c in a Crossbreed SuperTuck Deluxe along with one of their belts. I love my rig and have never had any problems with it. Retention can be adjusted to your liking by simply using a hair dryer to loosen or tighten the kidex around the trigger guard.

I also have a VersaCarry clip that I've used but because the rear sites are sharp on the xdm a simple t-shirt just doesn't cut it for me. I always default back to my SuperTuck.

Take a look at Minotaur IWB holsters. They grip the weapon well and cover the trigger guard.
Expensive but worth every penny IMO

I carry that same firearm in a crossbreed style holster. I can do cartwheels and have never had a retention problem. just a concealment problem going upside down. I don't know about anything else, but I would say leather and kydex won't let you down when it comes to retention.
 
I carry daily, Glock 27 subcompact 40 cal, in a White Hat holster. I've used this holster for about a year and never had a problem in regards to lack of retention----in fact, I believe you could do jumping jacks or hand stands and never have a loose weapon.
 
My IWB holster of choice for my subcompact XDM. I can go running, jumping, jogging, and cartwheeling in this and not have to worry about losing my weapon.

I carry my xDM 9C in a Crossbreed SuperTuck Deluxe with Crossbreed gun belt. I also own other rigs but this one works out best for me.
 
N82 Tactical Professional Holster requires a slight twist toward the body to draw. Might be worth looking into for you.
 
My Arm-A-Dillo from Link Removed works perfectly and will retain my Glock 19 or 1911 easily through cartwheels or any other movement. Hybrids in this style (same as Crossbreed and others) have the kydex molded around the trigger guard and/or the ejection port so that the gun is held in place until sufficient pressure is used to pull it free.

Protech intimidator. Its fairly inexpensive and I bought it a year ago... I have other holsters but use that most days. Always feel secure with the thumb strap and the vapor barrier works well.
 
I've tried what seems like an endless stream of IWB's and finally got a N82 Professional.... its a single clip on, so its much easier on and off, and requires a slight twist of the butt of the gun inwards (towards the body) before it will release...

This is by far the most comforable for me and is what I use for a Kahr CM9...

Hear Hear! for N82 Tactical Professional IWB holster with retention. I use them for my Kel Tec PF9, Baby Glock 26, and even my M9.

Very very comfortable to wear, simple to release retainer with a simple twist as you draw. Good people making them too.
 
Crossbreed Supertuck here on a full size. Retention is NEVER a problem. The Kydex is AMAZING at what it does.

You can actually adjust the retention yourself (more or less) using a bit of heat. You can send it back to them and they'll do it for you for free, as well.

I'll never go back to a thumb break after using Kydex!!
 
thanks a lot for the responses and info. I didn't realize the molding on most of the Kydex, was formed with retention spots(?) Around the trigger guard and ejection port. Than helps me understand and feel quite a bit more comfortable when making the choice.

Oh By the way, I also learned how many of you are into gymnastics, I won't be doing any of that, but if I take a gymnastics class I will just leave my CC weapon in the locker room. I will choose a thigh tactical holster it will go better with the spandex. Probably be better for the cartwheels. LOL
