It would be nice if the CCW issuer knew what is required to issue the permit!

I recently moved form NW GA to Northern Oklahoma. Two months beore I moved, I called the county sheriff department of the county I was moving to to get info on what it would take to transfer my CCW from GA to OK. I was told by the Person I was transfered to that I would be grandfathered in and only have to pay for the print fee, the CCW fee, and porovide 2 head shot photos of myself.

Yesterday I went to the sheriff office. I was then told that I would have to take all the classes and pay for everything including a private class. The problem I have is whe I told the lad at te desk that i had called and was told what I need to bring down she replied "I never told anyone that over the phone!" all nippy like. I then asked, " so you are the only one herethat answers questions about CCW?" She anwered, "yes" I then asked, "so what happens when you are at luch, or out sick?" Her answer, "It goes to my asstant" My next question was "Is her name ....?"
Her answer' "yes" That is who I spoke with two months earlier! I then asked her why her assant gave me the wrong info on the phone? Then I was ask to leave or she would call a dupty up to escourt me out of the office! i never raised my voice, or got overly animated in my convercation wit her. All i did was ask questions. Questions she did not want to answer. I left, and now i am looing at paying for the sae training twice!

Retiredman, I understand the laws, and they are there for a reason. What I'm getting at is the way I was treated in the office. I was threatend for asking question after catching the clerk in a lie, and why was misinformed on the phone. How can I do I right if I'm not given the correct info in the first place? You bring up the OSBI, if the woman I talked to on the phone didn't know, why didnt she say that, and give me the phone number of the OSBI?

@Psyk00diver Next time write a letter asking for all prcedures to transfer or comply with. Do this by return reciept with a self addressed envelope with stamps or a prepaid overnight addressed to you, copy everything. then you will have written info. Instead of the runaround you got. Phone calls do not work in my experience but a letter almost always get a response that you can work with. As for the threat from the clerk she was ethier embarassed or who knows. Now you have to deal with someone above her that is probaly related. Good Luck!

Please update us when you have achieved all required steps. Im curious to see if they try to abuse you further.

I will keep you all informed on what happens, next time I move all will question will be done by mail. My wife says that I'm nieve in thinking that people want to do their job and do it well. I geuss that is what is wrong with me I'm a craftsmen and I take my work as if it is going home with me and will be sitting in my living room. Honestly more poeple should take more pride in their work, just look at the unemployement rate! I will be calling the OSBI in the morning.

All of your permit requirements for Oklahoma are in this document:

http://webserver1.lsb.state.ok.us/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os21.rtf

Starting at §21-1290.1.

Maybe someday someone in the Oklahoma State Legislature will read what the 2nd Amendment says and attempt to comply with it.
