I think we are on the same page. I would fire to defend another, but I am well aware that I have placed myself in harm's way to do such. It is not the act of defending others that I question, it is the attitude that others (not you) have in these forums that they can just whip out their piece and blaze away if they "feel" there is a threat. You will still have to convince a jury that there really was "Reasonable belief" in most states (not Florida obviously.) Obvious indicators that would over-ride that are: actual injury has been incurred, attacker has vocally stated he will kill them, others have have already been injured or killed. My main objection to how this is presented in these forums and to some degree, in civilian self defense courses, is that you have the power of GOD to determine when to fire and that nobody can question it. We fire because you believe it is neccessary but whether we walk free in a court still depends on whether a jury believes it was neccessary. To tell others differently in classes or forums is to do them a disservice and possibly put them in jeopardy.
"Innocent until proven guilty" is a nice cliche but I don't really believe that it is working law in this country.

I agree! You better be sure before you pull a gun. The courts get to play with you with all the time in the world about your 1/2 second choice. It also will be a factor if your white and the badguy is black. and age and weapons or no weapons, even with witness, cause they may have not seen the whole incident. even if the facts go with your side of the matter. the papers can twist the incident.
and if the thing gets in the paper then look out for grand standing DA's or mayors or people who want attention. It a sad world when the papers lie and then get discover lying and no one can sue them.
I feel sorry for Martin to get killed! He was young! But the papers went with the race card. and slanted the story so. By photos and by words, and by lying. Zimmerman was trying to do a good thing He was looking out for his neighbors, Saw a man (6' FOOT TALL OR MORE) with dark clothing in a hoodie with the hood up at night. Walking behind some apts. He called the police, reported the incident and was keeping the police informed,( Cause you know when they get there they make a report and the badguy is long gone most of the time.) Look at all the reports they make, few arrests. So Zimmerman was looking where the guy went and was talking to the police about where the guy went and what the badguy looked like ( Cause the police asked.) They told Zimmerman He did not need to follow the guy so Zimmerman turn around and walked back to where his car was parked. Martin turned around and came up to Zimmerman.
Zimmerman was armed, Zimmerman was shorter than Martin. There was a fight. there were calls for help.
Witness say the shorter guy was on his back with the taller guy on top of him. The father of Martin said the calls for help were not his son, later changed his story. There were injurys on the back of Zimmermans head and his nose was broken. only injurys to martin were on his fists and ONE BULLET HOLE. MMM ONE BULLET HOLE WHY NOT 7. I guess Zimmerman felt one was all that was needed. the da said no charges then as it blew up in the paper they decide to go for the highest charge.
Zimmerman is going to jail the world is going to throw him to the wolfs. They do not want riots and killing and burning and police having to get in riot gear.. SO George is going to jail for a long time then his wife is going to jail too. cause who is little george Zimmerman just a spick who stuck his nose in to help others. let him take the fall. Dang we can get to run for a goverment office on this. A nobody we can stick it too He has no one to help him. the judge is all ready paid for. Not money but he will get something a new higher job in a few years or maybe the scotus. yea !!! George will be stabbed in prison and killed so he will not be a marty. And the powers that be can move along. The wolfs are hungry. Bread and tV the new romans thing. SAD SAD world.

Poor George! He has about two and a half years left to live. Thats when he will be killed in prison.
About the same time the DA on this case will run for a high office.
